hordak Posted July 10, 2008 Report Posted July 10, 2008 (edited) The other day one of our youth announced his mission call to Jamaica. I started thinking about it and i have seen people called to Japan,Australia,Dominican republic, etc. but our missionaries are always from Idaho or Utah.So i was wondering do members in other countries get foreign mission calls? Have you ever had a European or Asian missionary in your ward or branch? Edited July 10, 2008 by hordak spell check Quote

Have you ever had a European or Asian missionary in your ward or branch? I served in Leeds England and there was a young man there who recieved his call to Mexico. I believe my son told me in his Mission in Panama there were a few from Tonga...he can correct me when he sees this. Quote
prospectmom Posted July 10, 2008 Report Posted July 10, 2008 We have had missionaries from New York, Texas.... none from outside the USA as far as I can remember Quote
Jenamarie Posted July 10, 2008 Report Posted July 10, 2008 We had a sister missionary from Mongolia a few years ago, and one from New Zealand. But most of them do seem to come from Utah. Quote
omega0401 Posted July 10, 2008 Report Posted July 10, 2008 Living in Los Angeles, we've had a missionary from Mongolia! What a surprise that was and what a special missionary he was. Very polite and he loved being here and serving the Lord. Wish we had him longer. Quote
SisterHatch Posted July 10, 2008 Report Posted July 10, 2008 all the ones i have seen have been from utah or arizona ..but there was one from the eastern part of the u.s. who is serving his mission only a few states away from where he lives...but i wouldnt say i have had any form other countries..but what do i know..there could have been, i am a new convert Quote
Moksha Posted July 10, 2008 Report Posted July 10, 2008 I remember a couple of Missionariettes up at the Beehive House in SLC. One was from England and the incredibly gorgeous one was from Jamaica. They were both happy to be serving foreign missions, especially in the heart of Mormon Country. :) Quote
Lost_one Posted July 10, 2008 Report Posted July 10, 2008 (edited) Most Scottish missionaries seem to serve there mission in England and most English ones in Scotland. Strange. Ive seen a few from northern europe, but most are from Utah or Idaho. Edited July 10, 2008 by Lost_one Quote
pushka Posted July 10, 2008 Report Posted July 10, 2008 We've had recent missionaries from Utah, South Africa, Sweden and the UK. I remember some sister missionaries back in the late 70's from Belgium and the US. Quote
Moksha Posted July 10, 2008 Report Posted July 10, 2008 Most Scottish missionaries seem to serve there mission in England and most English ones in Scotland. Strange. They each get a foreign experience yet do not even need passports or shots, by doing this exchange. I wish the missionaries serving in our stake could be from Scotland. I love hearing that accent. The other was there for the last 4 months of that. Quote
