CrimsonKairos Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 (edited) Hey all,Sorry for the dramatic thread topic, just wanted to get your attention. Though I guess seeing "CrimsonKairos" being active on the website was shocking enough!Long time no post. Man have I been busy! Marriage and a pregnant wife (we're expecting a baby girl around Jan. 4th of next year), plus a new job and trying to distribute my finally finished DVD game...well, I'm swamped. And I wouldn't have it any other way. :)So I was wanting to get some feedback from any of you who are so inclined to take a moment and peek at what I've been working on. I think its pretty cool, but hey, that probably has something to do with the fact that I designed and produced it.So far I've sold starter copies to stores in over six states, and potentially to two stores in England. I joined the LDS Bookseller's Association and went to their expo in Sandy, UT this last August 4-8 and had a blast showing retailers my game. You can check out my distribution company's website here: www.daythreedistribution.bizHeather, I hope its okay for me to post a link like that, I haven't been around in awhile and am not sure if any new rules have been implemented, etc. Just let me know if you need it removed and I'll be happy to oblige.I hope all you guys have been well! CrimsonKairos Posted September 9, 2008 Author Report Posted September 9, 2008 Hey Ben and Pam, two of the best people on this site (yes, there are more I'm not mentioning, hahaha). Thanks for the congrats, it feels pretty great. Well, I guess it feels great to me, I'm not the one with morning sickness! My poor wife earns one more star for her crown each time she has to throw up. Quote
pam Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 So when do you think this game will be available? Gosh I just can't get over seeing you on the site again. It's like old homies week. Quote
CrimsonKairos Posted September 9, 2008 Author Report Posted September 9, 2008 Hahaha, the game is available anytime someone wants to order one. I have them printed, bar-coded, poly-wrapped and ready to go. :) So far I've sold over 55 copies at wholesale price to retail LDS bookstores around the USA. I'm always hoping to sell more though, so if anyone here owns a franchise of Deseret Book...hahahaha. Quote

StrawberryFields Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 CK!!!!! Wow I have been wondering what you have been up to and now I know!!! Welcome back!! I guess I didn't get a wedding invite afterall. Quote
DigitalShadow Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 Interesting, I've never seen a DVD game that interactive. Must have taken a while mapping out all the paths and making video clips for them. In any case, it's nice to see another developer on here. I'm a software developer and my wife is an aspiring 3D artist (still in college). I'm too new to the forum to remember you, but you seem like an interesting person. I hope you stick around longer than just to plug your game :) Quote
CrimsonKairos Posted September 10, 2008 Author Report Posted September 10, 2008 Thanks Strawberry, it's good to "hear" a few familiar voices after so long. I must have misplaced your address, sorry about the wedding invite. Yes, DigitalShadow, planning out the DVD tracks, chapters, menus and scripts was quite intensive but in the end, possible for one guy. I designed the DVD in DVD Studio Pro, and rendered the animations in Vue 6 Infinite. Quote
Heather Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 CK! So good to hear from you again. I'm excited you got your game done...and a baby on the way too? Wow! Congrats! Have you been in contact with anyone from Deseret book yet? Quote
CrimsonKairos Posted September 10, 2008 Author Report Posted September 10, 2008 Hey Heather, I'm glad to see the site is still up and running strong. Deseret told me they purchase from distributors only now instead of independents like me, so I did send a sample of my game to both Granite Distribution and Sounds of Zion, both of whom Deseret does business with. For now, neither distributor is interested in taking it on, so my plan is to sell enough copies to enough bookstores myself and then ask them again, showing that there is interest in the game and that if they would just use their marketing power, it could be a profitable success for them and me. We'll see how it goes. Thanks for the congrats! :) Quote
