Hi,

I just wanted to thank everyone who took the time to respond to the post "Can I Be A Liberal and a Mormon?"

I was going to thank on that thread but apparently I violated rules (apologies) so I just wanted to say thank you here.

I feel more encouraged that I could worship in an LDS setting and be welcomed regardless of my politics.

I hope to spend a Sunday soon at a local ward, so I'm going to look up how that works.

Thanks again, your time and thoughts was very appreciated.

:)

Best,

mustang

Also apparent is that those rules are only for certain people, or certain political parties and candidates. Some posts were entirely deleted, others were edited, and some were left untouched in their endorsement of parties, candidates, or both. I'll never understand it.

Restrictions on the freedom of speech have never panned out so well.

It's probably a lot faster to just close a thread than to delete individual posts while more are getting put up. If you don't like it, then don't break the rules. It's pretty simple.

I closed the thread and deleted some posts that had their names in it.....if you want to complain send me an e mail....the rules were broken and the thread served its purpose.....it was a good thread to unitl the names of candidates appeared...:)

But why is it that certain people are not expected to follow the rules? The names of certain candidates and parties STILL appear. I've had posts deleted and have received reproof for a link that only contained a quote from someone in candidacy, while neither advocating nor dissuading the notion of their election. Meanwhile, someone posts: "I am a member of ____________ party and I'm voting for ____________" and their post remains unedited.

shall i delete the whole thead? then we don't have to worry about it....

Do whatever you think best, but please refrain from arbitrary enforcement of the rules. I shutter to imagine what our non-LDS vistors think when they see us arbitrarily deleting posts.

Wow, my post (in the other thread) warranted a delete rather than an edit from the mods? I'm flattered.

I only said the O word once. I don't know what was wrong with the rest of the post!

AHHHHHH YES THE O WORD !!!!

Let me remind you all of rule 54c, section 8 in the forum handbook.

Rule 54c, section 8 reads as follows:

If any member of this forum uses, types, or in any way refers to the word " Orange " they will, without warning be deleted from this site. Furthermore, this forum will not endorse, support, or accept the mixing of yellow and red. These two colors, as stated by rule 54c, will remain independent and can never be combined under any circumstance!!!!

I hope this helps and we can ALL obey the rules set forth.

God bless,

Carl

when a lot of ppl decide they can break rules that they know are there simply because the first person to do it (usually a newbie that didn't read the rules) wasn't caught yet... makes it very hard to come back later and clean up all the crap. sometimes things get missed.

if you have a problem with a specific post then report it, not in a snotty "but that's not fair...." but more a "just letting you know you missed this one in all the commotion" and it will be taken care of.

the irony that none of you know is we get accused of bias from both sides of the political spectrium.... bottom line is yall know the rules and if we actually infracted like we should for every political violation (rather than being "arbitrary") many of you wouldn't be here anymore (remember you only get 3 strikes).

we only have a bit longer to go so why not instead of complaining help out by keeping the rules and report posts that break the rules rather than join in.

oh and one more reminder, you guys have the power to edit your own posts, don't have to wait for a mod to do it.

I'm not upset, nor whining. You can't hurt my feelings; I don't have any! :P I completely understand that my post violated the candidate rule. I wasn't thinking of that when I wanted to brag about my supercool campaign button. I apologize for it.

I do have a question, though. Why are some posts deleted entirely, while others are edited to remove a candidate's name? Is there a guideline for that?

If all your friends were bragging about a supercool campaign button, would you do it too? :P

Just kidding. This did make me laugh, though.

I love people that make no sense...I mean liberals...they provide such good comic relief. Just kidding...relax! I never discuss politics in church....I don't have a clue who is left...right...Dem or Rep......Green or Libertarian in my ward. You would be welcomed either way.....that's not what church is about anyway.
