BenRaines Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 I for one would not want to tick off the Israeli government. The whole world knows that the Mossad is the best trained and funded in the world and they are not in a hurry to settle up. It may take years but they will make them pay. Ben Raines Quote
TeancumsSword Posted November 28, 2008 Author Report Posted November 28, 2008 I sent this e-mail to FoxNews... "Part of your headline says 2 Americans have been killed, referencing a father and daughter from Virginia. But the same page says a Chabad Rabbi and his wife from New York were killed. Since when are Jews not Americans???" Will post their response (if I get one). Quote

Heavenguard Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 (edited) It's possible that they did not become American citizens, thus making them not American. Or that they'd changed their citizenship to Indian.Possible. Edited November 28, 2008 by Heavenguard Quote
ADoyle90815 Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 Are the Dems going to ask what WE did to provoke this?Definitely not, as terrorists don't distinguish between Democrat or Republican, they hate all Americans and our allies. Quote

Elphaba Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 I sent this e-mail to FoxNews..."Part of your headline says 2 Americans have been killed, referencing a father and daughter from Virginia. But the same page says a Chabad Rabbi and his wife from New York were killed. Since when are Jews not Americans???"The reason the headline does not say the rabbi/wife are also American citizens is there is not enough space to do so. If you look at his picture, you can see that any other words would have landed on his face.Additionally, you can’t have two stories with the same, or similar, headlines on the same page. So, the editors had no choice but to write a different caption. When they tagged his work at the Jewish Center, it gave a more personal touch to the headline. Headlines like this intrigue the reader, which makes it more likely s/he will open the story, which is want the site wants. And in this case, the article clearly indicates both the father/daughter and rabbi/wife are American citizens.Like you said, the update immediately below the picture does indicate the rabbi/wife were from New York. Personally, I interpreted that to mean they were American citizens.Elphaba Quote

Vast difference when they claimed it in name of a god. In fact, I wonder if they really know what happens to them when they realize they do not inherit paradise but pay for the crimes committed? Sad... Quote

Elphaba Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 (edited) Let me change something here since it is not the appropriate term to use by the media when I hear they were KILLED to they were MURDERED or a SUICIDE BOMBER TO a HOMICIDE BOMBER. Vast difference when they claimed it in name of a god. In fact, I wonder if they really know what happens to them when they realize they do not inherit paradise but pay for the crimes committed? Sad...Hemi,I completely agree with you that these acts are murder. However, the reason the writer did not use the word "murder" is that it is technically a legal term, and is not used except in a legal context. The news media have a stylebook they refer to when the reporter is not sure what wording to use in ambiguous situations like this. In this case, "murder" is only used in the legal context. If the people who committed this atrocity were captured, the story would say they were "charged with murder." And then, if they were convicted, the story would contain the word "murder" when referring to these monsters' actions. But until, and if, this happens, most of the news media do not use the word when a person kills someone, but has not been charged with a crime. That is not to say we can't use the word, and again, I completely agree with you. These people were murdered.Elphaba Edited November 30, 2008 by Elphaba Because I didn't edit this before I posted it. Quote
