Hi everyone. What are the best Mormon apologetics sites out there?

Hi MG,

I have been participating at

Mormon Apologetics & Discussion Board for about a year now. Its sponsored (directly/indirectly) by FAIR. You will find them in a list of apologetic sites on their links page here.FAIR Web Links You might want to check out some of the others, but this one seems to have the most frequent visits by LDS Scholarship and the most ongoing discussion.

The people there are very friendly, for the most part.... its and open forum so you do get the random screaming anti, or overzealous LDS in the mix.... But overall the Mods do a very good job of keeping things at a conversational level.

I would bear in mind that there is ongoing apologetics and debate going on. If you like sticking up for what you believe and learning about what others think, its not a bad place at all.

If you decide to check it out over there feel free to look up me. I'm Mudcat there as well.

TGIF,

Mudcat

FAIR, Jeff Lindsay's site, Shield and the More-Good Foundation can all provide you with Apologetic type information. For direct feedback, you can always follow the trail of Krispy Kreme donut crumbs to Dr. Daniel C. Peterson's office in the Maxwell Institute at BYU.

For Apologetic debate of a "take no prisioners" variety, you can always seek out the MAD debate site.

Any idea why someone,"a critic", would really badly underestimate Jeffs site? Calling him with names and telling he know nothing? Could that be because that person is antie? I think Jeffs sites are good. Maybe Jeffs logig has got him/her a few times?? It is also interesting to see that nothing that has something from LDS scolars is worth a penny for this person anyway (or a couple) ...

I've plugged this particular book several times...but it's fair play, because a former senior moderator here plugged it to me: How Wide the Divide: a Mormon and an Evangelical in Conversation offers an intelligent, but readable discussion between two respected professors, one from BYU, the other from Denver Seminary. They are respectful, and yet make no compromises. At the end of the book, they remain friends. I've read it, underlined it, and have given it to inmates, both LDS and evangelical. When the LDS ones look at me funny, I tell them it's sold at Deseret Books.

I would estimate that 90% of the doctrinal debates on this board contain information that is repeated in this book--and it's only 200 pages. BTW, I receive no royalties for this referral. :-)

I frequent a couple of ex-Mormon sites and FAIR is usually a pretty hot topic. So yes, the critics are probably antis. I've never been to FAIR myself. One of these day, maybe.

Do you mean those who are claiming themselves to be scholars of the church?

Well it sure sounds like that anyway

There is this CM who sometimes referes to Jeffs site as he knows that site well. Then there is an opponent who rightaway complains that doesnt he have any other sites to refere to than Jeff. Once he wrote some 20 rows of the name jeff,jeff,.... Well actually that name reminds of dogs bark... but in Finland they say that a barking dog dont bite.... :P And ofcourse he is referring to it that Jeff is not a scolar... but then again he dont take as scolars ANYONE who is a mormon and now I noticed, no one saying anything positive about LDS is a scolar in his/her mind either. Complete balck out I would say. Good blinds on!

I like Jeffs site. He has some really good articles and a lot of answered questions.
