swiftfox Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 Hey all, Im a 25 year old married male with a 7 week old baby boy and looking for a new religion. I was baptized catholic and was practicing up until 2004 when I met my wife. She is a beautiful 22 year old Mormon who is currently not really practicing as she hasn't been to church in quite a while. I would love nothing more than for us 3 as a family to attend the LDS church together but I have a hard time erasing all the religious beliefs that have been shoved down my throat for the past 25 years. Im a fun loving, easy going man that just wants the best for my family. I am wondering if anyone would want to start chatting on Yahoo Instant Messenger with me as I need to constantly be surrounded with positive things on the church as well as incouragement. I would love to be able to surround myself with people to chat with and ask questions when needed. Thank you so much and I truly look forward to chatting with you online. My instant messenger handle on yahoo IM is as follows: ldsian Thanks, Chris :) Quote
BenRaines Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 Why not just chat here along with the rest of us? We discourage people from getting off of a public forum to a private forum. Have not had good results with people going to an unmoderated forum. But people can do as they wish. Ben Raines Quote
Hemidakota Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 Interesting term: LDSIAN...welcome to the forum. Quote
Maxel Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 Welcome! I'm not one for instant chat, but if you ever want to talk about anything, I browse the forums. Good luck! Quote
pam Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 I second what Ben said. Would love to chat with you here but going off into instant messaging how not always been the best thing. You just never know who you are REALLY going to chat with. Quote
FunkyTown Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 That's true. Take it from Pam. I hear she bites. And by 'Hear', I mean "She bit my ear off like Mike Tyson." Quote
jolee65 Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 We have a forum here thats chuck full of good LDS feed back, just give us a try :) Quote
zoosh Posted January 25, 2009 Report Posted January 25, 2009 Hey Swiftfox! Congrats on your baby! You know, it took me at least 6 yrs to finally join the church, also thanks to an insistent girl (I'm not married yet). I also grew up Catholic. I felt being Catholic was more about identity than about religious beliefs. I never exactly understood what it was that I was supposed to believe. I just knew I was "Catholic" The LDS church is so well-organized that everyone knows exactly what they need to do and they truly feel like a close ward family. Quote
nzorient Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 Hey Swiftfox,Good to see ya!! If you have time, have a look at this YouTube clip: It talks about the conversion story of Glenn Beck, which I found inspirational. Quote
