Maxel Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 What is it? I'm currently testing out the various media sources for their inherent integrity. What I want right now is a small list of everyone's preferred sources of news and why they prefer that source of news: it can be a blog, online periodical, newspaper, television station- anything. Thanks to all who will take the time to help me out! Quote
DigitalShadow Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 Slashdot is my favorite, not because it is unbiased or anything but because it sums up the news important to nerds pretty nicely. Quote
deseretgov Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 I don't know which is I think is best but I'm hoping that eventually Zo-ma-rah will become one of the best if not the best news sources. It will take a lot of work to get there. Quote
Just_A_Guy Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 I don't think there's any one single source. I try to check the following daily, in no particular order: CNN Drudge Report Instapundit RealClearPolitics Salt Lake Tribune Volokh Conspiracy For LDS news, I check the sidebars at timesandseasons.org and bycommonconsent.com. bytor2112 Posted April 28, 2009 Report Posted April 28, 2009 I tend to read the Wall Street Journal, the CATO Institute website, Heritage, Newsmax, etc. For political commentary I watch FOX and CNN and I enjoy C-Span. MSNBC is a farce. Quote

rameumptom Posted April 28, 2009 Report Posted April 28, 2009 (edited) Drudgereport has actually received notice for being balanced. I also read WSJ, Newsmax. I trust the CATO Institute. Morning shows, I like Morning Joe as very balanced, as well as Robin Meade. In the evening, Brett Baer is rather balanced. The opinionists are to the right on Fox, and to the left on MSNBC. I like Camille Paglia's monthly read on the news at Salon. She's an atheist, lesbian, and democrat, but hates anti-Christians, those who attacked Prop 8, most liberals and feminazis, and she is a realist. She voted for Obama, but concerned about some of his actions, etc. I also like Glenn Beck, though I realize he is not balanced. Edited April 28, 2009 by rameumptom Quote
FunkyTown Posted April 28, 2009 Report Posted April 28, 2009 BBC World is one that I go to for news. Also, Reuters reports are worthwhile. Pretty much everything else shows too much of a bias for me to pay much attention to. Quote

NeuroTypical Posted April 28, 2009 Report Posted April 28, 2009 The front page events column of the WSJ provides a summary of every 'newsworthy event' worth knowing about. CATO studies and papers are incredibly well researched and sourced. My customized Yahoo home page has a ton of different things. Mainstream news headlines, BBC, blogs from opiniongivers from all over the spectrum. My ultra-liberal homeschooling buddy. People who collect news items from the middle east where folks are still institutionalizing hatred. I have a section on natural disasters disease and earthquakes. Stocks and market commentary. Everyone and their dog has an RSS feed these days. LM Quote
