Guest dec2057 Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 I have some LDS books I want to sell but where do I go? I went to list them on Ebay but Ebay will only let you charge $4 for shipping and I ship priority which is $4.95. If I ship media mail I have to purchase bubble packs and that costs too much as I am starting the books at only .99 each. I checked out Deseret Auctions but their site is a PITA to use and costs, too. Isn't there a place or a forum that I could go and list the books for folks to get? I have quite a few of them and would love to see them read and not just gathering dust. I don't need the duplicates. Where do I go? Quote
funkenheimer Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 ksl.com I haven't tried selling books there - but I have sold quite a few things there. You would also be targeting a market that has a high LDS percentage. Oh, yeah - its free to post there! Quote
Wingnut Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 There's a new site that I've seen advertised on here called LDSauction.com. You might still have to pay shipping, though. You could always set your price and then also charge for shipping. Quote
Guest dec2057 Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 Thank you so much. I really appreciate the replies ;-) Quote
miztrniceguy Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 i ship my wife's book by media mail in a box for only 2.77. not bad for a book larger than MoDoc. we do not use bubble wrap. Quote
Guest dec2057 Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 That's the problem with media mail - you either have to provide a box, an envelope or bubble wrap envelope or something and it costs money to get them. I don't have anything like that just lying around. With priority mail the boxes and labels are all provided for free from the post office. Quote
Guest dec2057 Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 Monday - they did a whole lot more - you should go and see what they did. It's pretty awful. Quote

We have no shipping charges added. Of course the e-book versions have no shipping, too. Quote

eternalpromise516 Posted July 30, 2009 Report Posted July 30, 2009 dec, i am a seller on Amazon. if you're interested in going this route and would have any questions, feel free to ask here or send me a PM :) good luck selling your books! Quote
miztrniceguy Posted July 30, 2009 Report Posted July 30, 2009 We do sell on Amazon, but prefer people order directly from us. The main reason we sell on Amazon is to offer a Kindle format for e-books. However, Amazon takes a big chunk, so we would rather have people order directly from our website. Quote
Guest Alana Posted July 30, 2009 Report Posted July 30, 2009 I sell on half.com. They have a set shipping rate reimbursement though. It's slightly higher than the actual media mail cost, to cover supplies. Seeing how I ship in boxes that I make with thrown away card board, a box cutter and lots of shipping tape, it costs me next to nothing:) Quote
bytebear Posted July 30, 2009 Report Posted July 30, 2009 I have bought some used books on Amazon. If I knew how to find alternative sites of sellers, that would be great, but the convenience of Amazon is just too much to pass up. Plus you see several sellers and so you can see the difference in quality of the books (if it has a dust cover, ripped pages, etc.) Quote
