Guest Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 I'm writing this from the corner because it is just from my head, nothing doctrinal about it... When I was learning about LDS doctrine and the pre-existence, I came to the conclusion that everybody on earth - including Jeffrey Dahmer and the 9/11 muslim terrorists - are all Christians. Because, for one to gain a mortal body, they must have followed Christ's plan. Therefore, everybody on earth gets resurrected. Even Jeffrey Dahmer. Well, unless you reject Jesus after gaining testimony. Everything after that all comes down to degrees of glory. My husband once told me only LDS can go to outer darkness. Because to gain entrance there, you must have received confirmation of Jesus the Christ (qualifies you for membership in LDS, yes?) then reject him. So, PC, being evangelical, will never get thrown to outer darkness, unless of course he receives priesthood keys in the spirit world and then rejects the Christ. Which, I'm fairly certain he will never ever do... So, PC, you may not be LDS, but you're cool brother! We'll just have to work on you a bit to get you to the Celestial Kingdom. Ok, ok... my knowledge of the gospel is very infantile... Quote
Vort Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 Ironically, day in and day out, the ideal LDS and the ideal evangelical would lead very similar lives. This is ironic only if one believes, as some evangelicals loudly proclaim, that Latter-day Saints worship "A Different JesusĀ®". I gather that you (PC) believe no such thing; thus, I submit that, far from being ironic, your insightful perception should be the expected order of things. Quote
prisonchaplain Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 Vort...well, doctrinally different...we do understanding him differently, in terms of his nature, his exact place in the Godhead...but, yes, we both venerate the Jesus of the New Testament, and we both believe him to be Messiah prophesied in the Old Testament. pam Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 I thought it was rejection of the Holy Ghost not of Jesus Christ. Quote

Anatess has never spent the winter months in Seattle...darkness to rise, and already dark by the commute home. Oh...and Pam, in our case it's rejection of the Sun, all right! Quote
