desire, I don't recognize your Bible quotes and they're difficult for me to read. Would you also include where they are from so I can refer to the KJV?

I'm sure I understand your point or your question.

They are from your source

I haven't quoted Ezekiel, have I?

desire, when a modern prophet speaks over the pulpit it is considered scripture.

However, many of them have written books in which they clearly state it is their opinion.

There is a difference, even if others have a hard time seeing it.

Did you read the link you sent me?!?

I will send it to you.

Mormon/LDS Answers: Questions about LDS Prophets and the Mormons

Because Articles of Faith, the book by James Talmage is different from The Articles of Faith found at the back of the Pearl of Great Price. The former is not doctrine, but the latter is.

That's what I was referring to. The ones in the back of the POGP. Not the book by Talmage.

Sorry I confused you!

After 208 posts on one thread..who wouldn't be confused?

So to wrap up the confusion, :) "henotheistic" is what the LDS church is and teaches, not "monotheistic" teaching or "polytheistic" teaching?

Uh... no. Some members may take that position, but others do not.

So this is one of those areas, I guess, like lstinthewrld was talking about in another thread he started, where not all members agree on core doctrines--and they're entitled to their interpretations. I wasn't saying the Church DID teach henotheism, I was asking for clarification.

They agree on the nature of the Godhead, they just can't agree on what to specifically classify their beliefs as.

edit: I believe some are recalcitrant to identify themselves as anything other then monotheistic because they already feel persecuted enough. Others recognize their belief for what it is and don't care what people think. And some just don't know what to call what they believe.

I think that's accurate. I think we agree on the nature of God, but we define the terms based on different criteria.

Breath buddy...

I am explaining to her that the core doctrine is the same, what to classify it as varies from person to person.

Repeat after me: "Tranquility now."

Justice, the LDS.ORG website specifically declares that such speeches are *not* doctrine, nor scripture. Sorry. I keep posting the article on doctrine, but it looks like you at least haven't read it!

If I am not a monotheist, why hasn't anybody let me know?

I think that's because as Mormons, we don't really like technical, formal 'theology'. Not at all. We're more of a 'listen to this story' people.

I was just throwing in my agreement, nothing more.

I guess it's just a bad night.

Justice... You're awesome man, and allowed to have a bad night.

However, we expect nothing but perfection from you for the next month. Only one bad night a month!

Coming up with zero results doesn't necessarily mean anything. I've put in some pretty basic words for searches and come up with nothing.

Post it again for me please, this is way too long to go through again.

I missed it because I wasn't looking for it. It never occured to me that what the Apostles speak at General Conference is not considered scripture.

I'll read it this time, promise.

ROFL. That's priceless. You are welcome to be a monotheist, but I'm perfectly happy being a LDS panentheist.
