pam Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 What does the federal government have to do with the law of God? Civil law is predicated upon God's law. To quote Rhett Butler, "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn" what you would expect from me. *hint* Manifesto - 1890
MrsAri Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 I should have been more clear. I was responding primarily to your statement thatand a slough of other posts concluding, in essence, that the outlawing of polygamy is evidence of divine disapproval of the practice. It's of no consequence. It's outlawed regardless.I find it very interesting that certain people continue to push polygamy down other's throats, knowing full well that it's wrong. The majority oppose it, and are offended by the mere concept.
Hemidakota Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 Pam is correct. We are still under the Law of Land until the word is given to the Prophet in not following the law or when the righteous of the land takes over on what is left of our government.
MrsAri Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 *hint* Manifesto - 1890The Communist Manifesto?

MrsAri Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 Pam is correct. We are still under the Law of Land until the word is given to the Prophet in not following the law or when the righteous of the land takes over on what is left of our government.Of course, Church members should know this.
MrsAri Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 Not understanding the true principle of Polygamy, is not understanding the eternal principle of a Patriarchal Order of Marriage. I understand that it is the woman's right to say no.
ttribe Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 *hint* Manifesto - 1890Correct. See link: Why Did the Church Abandon Polygamy?
pam Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 The Communist Manifesto? What???? You are calling something put out by the Church a Communist Manifesto?
john doe Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 Well I think this thread has been effectively killed. If the OP has no objection I will close it tonight.
Just_A_Guy Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 Hmm. We have Godwin's law about invoking Hitler and Nazis. Do we need a similar law about invoking Marx and Communists?
MrsAri Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 What???? You are calling something put out by the Church a Communist Manifesto?Hmm...you didn't specify which manifesto you were referring to.
Just_A_Guy Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 Hmm...you didn't specify which manifesto you were referring to.I should have thought both the date and the context would have made it reasonably clear.
pam Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 Oh please..don't play dumb with me. You knew exactly which one I was referring to.
ttribe Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 BTW, just for the sake of completeness in disclosure, the 1890 Manifesto (now Official Declaration #1 in our Docrtine & Convenants) was reaffirmed by Joseph F. Smith in 1904 due to some...ahem...continued plural marriages (Plural Marriage - The Encyclopedia of Mormonism).
BenRaines Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 JD, let me save you the trouble. I am not at work. On laptop so I will take care of it. Ben Raines
john doe Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 · Hidden Hidden It's of no consequence. It's outlawed regardless.I find it very interesting that certain people continue to push polygamy down other's throats, knowing full well that it's wrong. The majority oppose it, and are offended by the mere concept. You obviously need to educate yourself about the subject before spouting off about such things. Just because you may be offended by the world's view of polygamy as it is practiced today by people not authorized by God to do so, does not make the concept wrong.
