LDSVALLEY Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 Say hi to Elder Burstall from the Kentville Ward, Nova Scotia. He's been in that Mission for 14-18 months. Says it's hot and no trees. Congrats. PS remember what I tell our Missionaries (i'm a Ward Mission Leader) To have a successful mission open your mouth. Every time you give someone a chance to hear the gospel you are doing exactly what the Lord expects. A slammed door or a baptism make no difference. One is just annoying the other satisfying. Your role is to provide the opportunity what they decide to do with it is between them and the Lord. Quote
Guest Godless Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 Congrats! And remember, sunscreen is your friend. Quote
candyprpl Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 I live in the Tucson, AZ mission area. I live about three hours from Tucson in New Mexico and we have very pleasant temps here. In Phoenix IT DOES GET EXTREMELY HOT:o. CONGRATS!!!! Keep us posted!:) Quote
Traveler Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 While consulting with a company in Phoenix I was given a cartoon depicting a couple of devils in a hot place with fire and lava everywhere. One devil turns to the other and says, "This place sucks - it has got to be hotter than Phoenix here." Anyway I thought it was funny. On the bright side - while I was there I contacted many individuals that did not know very much about the LDS and the more I talked with them the more interested they become. You should have lots of opportunity to teach great things. The Traveler Quote
BenRaines Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 I try to always remind new missionaries that you are planting seeds. Don't expect to harvest everything you do in two or three weeks. Missionary work is planting seeds that may bear fruit at a later date. Do not become discouraged. Just remember that you are planting seeds that you may not see the harvest to until many years later or after this life. Ben Raines Quote
Saguaro Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 Congratulations. I live in the Phoenix mission. If you're lucky you'll spend the summer in Flagstaff and the winter in Phoenix. Quote
bytebear Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 Yay! I could watch missionary call letter openings all day on YouTube. Congrats! Quote
Iggy Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 Copngratulations! Drink plenty of water. Buy it by the case and always carry several bottles with you. When you go out tracting, wear a hat. Other wise you can easily get sun stroke. Even in the winter. Quote
ttribe Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 Congrats! I live in the Phoenix area, and while it may be hot in the Summer, it's a wonderful place to be. Best wishes to you as you prepare and serve. Quote
