HEthePrimate Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 Not! It seems my upstairs neighbors have gotten that new video game and have just started playing it (it's well after 1:00 a.m.--they tend to be night owls). Not only is the game noisy, but they are yelling, hollering, and laughing all the time. How am I to get any sleep? *sigh* DH Quote
Mahone Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 Is there any place in the building where you can access cut off switches for the mains electricity supply for the whole building? (just flick it back on in the morning ) Quote

Generally_Me Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 What's your landlord situation? Can you request an apartment exchange, with the noisy neighbors downstairs? Well, then your floor will thump. Quote

mnn727 Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 There are noise ordinances in most areas. call the police Quote
MsQwerty Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 Call the police. There are most likely laws against making noise that disturbs the peace of neighbours in your area. Quote
Guest Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 Invest in white noise machines or ocean wave machines. If that doesn't help drown out the noise, then invest in ear plugs. Let the neighbors have their fun. :) Quote

Just_A_Guy Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 As a practical matter, I'd avoid getting the police involved here--it would unnecessarily escalate the situation. I'd try to talk it out with your neighbors first. Failing that, talk to your landlord about swapping apartments, as has been mentioned. Failing that, I'd dust off my rental agreement - there's probably some kind of noise provisions in there, and you can (politely) request that the landlord enforce it. Quote
