pam Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 I just wanted to give a great big CONGRATULATIONS to OneEternalSonata for being ordained to the office of an Elder yesterday!!!!! Congrats my friend!!! Quote
Dravin Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Have fun giving your first anointing/blessing. If you are anything like me you'll be worried out of your mind but you'll get more comfortable with it. :) Quote
OneEternalSonata Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Haha, thanks Dravin. I'm really looking to it. (I'm sure I'll be nervous, too.) Quote
WmLee Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Congratulations!!! Oh what Darvin left you is sooooo true!! Rarely do you get to plan on that. You get a call or a kid gets sick and suddenly, there you are!! Let the spirit guide you and you'll be fine! Quote
john doe Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Congrats. Just as with muscles, the more you exercise your priesthood the stronger you will become in using it. Quote
OneEternalSonata Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Very true, john doe. Thank you for the excellent advice. =) Quote
Maya Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Hi congrats! It is great to see men becoming Elder My youngest son should be there by next winter. :) Quote
prisonchaplain Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 Congrats...btw...what do they give you at your ordination? When I became a seminary student, the President of the school gave me a towel (go wash some feet young man!). When I was ordained we received shepherd's staffs. What emblems do LDS elders receive? What emblems do LDS elders receive? There is a certificate of ordination given. Nothing officially mandated as far as emblems, but I do know more than one Elder who received a small vial (usually that fits on a key chain) in which to carry consecrated oil with them at all times but that is usually from family or friends. OneEternalSonata Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 I bought a vial for myself before my ordination to remind myself of my goal. Quote
LostSheep Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 Sorry to bump this thread. I just wanted to say congrats as well. Quote
Vanhin Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 (edited) Yeah I missed this. Way to go. My advice is when you consecrate olive oil for the first time, don't do like I did and consecrate an entire gallon (from SAM's). Just fill your vial and consecrate it... I think that bottle is still at my dad's with a label on it - "Consecrated". Vanhin Edited December 23, 2009 by Vanhin Quote
