You need to talk to your bishop. Must stakes have people that go over all of this with you.I've noticed over the years to quality has gone down, but fortunately they only cost a few dollars per piece.I'm half way there, waiting to get an interview with the Stake President. I've been told that I have to buy all my own garments - no freeby set. Quote

Maybe it tears up garments:).Well, I meant set as in group I bought at the same time as opposed to a top and bottom combo, they're my original pairs with two pair as outliers (they're 2-3 months 'younger') as I didn't buy enough for my mission (couldn't just throw the dirty ones in the washer whenever I felt like it like I could back home). Anyway, I understand that physical wear and tear varies, but several months vs 3+ years and still going strong seems quite the difference. Quote

Seriously though, my cotton garments have been among the more long-lasting ones for me. They tend to do the job adequately. I prefer mesh, but that fabric varies a bit from time to time. I have some that have held up well and some that the bottoms have shrunk and the legs have become quite short and tight on my (muscular) thighs. Quote

What is uncomfortable and inconvenient about them? Really? I don't like the all cotton or cotton jersey because they keep growing . Or is it that they prevent you from wearing clothes that aren't modest? Sleeveless tops, strapless gowns, shorts, dresses that are cut up to the hips? I absolutely love the DriSilque for women who are amply endowed. Here in AZ they don't add to the heat, in OR they keep me warm. If you are smaller than then smallest size they offer - you can call and give them your measurements and they will make them to fit you- no extra charge. Also if you have a disability that requires a custom fit- the church is more than happy to accommodate you. Just call them. As for the cost of garmmies- they are 1/2 the price they were 10 years ago. Pres Hinkley had the prices cut in half so that EVERYONE could afford to replace them when they got ratty, stained and tattered.As long as you do not use any liquid bleach, they should stay in good condition. I use BIZ and Oxi on my husbands cotton ones, and just a bit of BIZ on my DriSilque. Also don't dry them on hot. Use the lower setting on your dryer. It took me 8 years to finally realize that 6 pairs were NOT enough, I now have 14. If you cannot afford to shell out about $5.00 a pair for 7 or 10 pairs, then tell your RS Pres/EQ Pres and have them get you a voucher from the Bishop to get you your garments that you cannot pay for. My first 3 pairs were purchased by my older sister, a couple in the Branch gave me $50 toward the purchase of my garmmies/temple clothes. As a gift my two older sisters bought my first set of temple whites and those we got at 50% off (again, Pres Hinkley stated that he wanted more members to come to the Temple, and if finances were stopping them, then lets lower the cost of the whites). It makes it easier when wearing shorts in the summer, but I suspect they are technically shorter than they should be. Quote
