BDRichardson Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 That's a quote from Finding Nemo. But that is my name. I am here. (Drum roll, please). My, what a big population you have here. Well. I'm Mormon. Not grossly so, but mostly so. Fairly conservative, according to Kirby standards, borderline liberal. Looking forward to getting to know folks here. For some reason I didn't think the Church had this (and I guess it's not "official" although it looks somewhat official), and tried to start my own group at yahoo. Never too many members. Today I decided to look around and I saw this big palace on the horizon and came to look. Yay. So, where's the mouthpieces and boxing gloves? I'm ready... That's a joke. Sarcasm and tone is difficult to detect in text, isn't it? I'm not a smiley-icon kind of guy either. Anyway. That's me ranting for a few. Later, BDR Quote
HiJolly Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 Welcome, Bruce. Look forward to your thoughts. So far. HiJolly Quote
Honor Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 Ellow Bruce..... Did you just slyly refer to this place as a great and spacious type building? Wow you're pretty observant for a newbie! Welcome! Quote
BDRichardson Posted January 12, 2010 Author Report Posted January 12, 2010 I'm not that clever. And I didn't have that reference in mind. I just saw hundreds of thousands of posts (threads?), and figured there would be lots of people to meet and mingle and combat with. Not that I like combat or anything. Just kidding. Discuss. That's what I meant. In all honesty, I love questions. "No witness until after the trial of your faith." Right? But if it IS a G&SB then ... sweet! Not really, but you said it would be observant of me to realize this. Why do you say that? Enlighten me... is it? Quote
pam Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 Welcome to the site..As long as we don't have to refer to you as "Bruce Almighty." Quote
BDRichardson Posted January 12, 2010 Author Report Posted January 12, 2010 Pam: you don't HAVE to refer to me that way, but it sure wouldn't hurt my self-esteem. It's one of my favorite nicknames. My favorite is "Zeus." So... Head Moderator, eh? How does one climb that corporate ladder? Just curious. I can't handle the responsibility... All: thanks for the welcomes. Quote
beefche Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 Welcome to our nuthouse. All I ask is that you don't bring me down, Bruce. Quote
pam Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 Did you get the roll of the tongue down on that beefche saying Bruce? Quote
Wingnut Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 Welcome to our nuthouse. All I ask is that you don't bring me down, Bruce.I can finally see your new avatar! I haven't been able to see it until now.Oh, and welcome Bruce! I don't normally visit the intro forum (just because I don't), but I saw the thread title and picked up on it being from Nemo, so I came to see if that was deliberate or not. Quote
BDRichardson Posted January 12, 2010 Author Report Posted January 12, 2010 beefche: uhm... k? I'm not sure if I ever brought someone down. So, I'll try not to... Pam: I'm not sure what your question is. I got (I think) "behave yourself." But I always do. But I could be wrong, too. I told you "I'm not a smart man." -- by the way I like your profile pic. Nice screenshot. Quote
BDRichardson Posted January 12, 2010 Author Report Posted January 12, 2010 Wingnut: I'm a movie quote monger. I live for it. Few ever pick up on it, I usually have to spell it out. Congrats! I'm glad I attracted some like thinker(s). I'll make a note in your chart (that notion is from Seinfeld). Quote
beefche Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 Bruce, look for an explanation of my comment. Quote
pam Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 Beefche was referring to a song by ELO...and they roll the tongue when they say Bruce. Quote
BDRichardson Posted January 12, 2010 Author Report Posted January 12, 2010 Hmm. Now I know. Clever. See? I said earlier "You'll have to forgive my friend. He's a little slow." I'd be the friend in this scenario. How does a Bruce have a chance in the world with bad media like that fouling up our reputable rep? ... sigh... (humming... Bruce, Bruce, Bruce)... thanks a lot! Quote
pam Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 You can't just hum it..you have to sing it and get the whole tongue rolling thing going or it just isn't the same. :) Quote

I know Nemo, Cars, Jonah and the Whale (Veggie Tales), The Incredibles, Chicken Little, Aladdin, Little Mermaid, and I'm getting to know Up.I should really think of some other extra-curriculars to do. Wingnut Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 P.S. It's been awhile since anyone's been on this thread, but you might be interested in resurrecting it: http://www.lds.net/forums/general-discussion/17697-movie-mix-match.html Quote
BDRichardson Posted January 12, 2010 Author Report Posted January 12, 2010 All good flicks. Incredibles is definitely a 4-star movie. Quote it all the time. Most kids shows are way better than most grown up shows. My friend and I recently had a conversation which included "Handy dandy notebook." That's just wrong. But ... what do you do? You've got no extra-curricular time for at least 8-12 years. And then just a bit. Unless you have more kids, then they start to entertain each other (what ARE they doing down there???)... oh! gotta go!!! Quote
BDRichardson Posted January 12, 2010 Author Report Posted January 12, 2010 Wingnut: well, I posted. But I'm not a clever fellow, so we'll see if I can keep up. Maybe you should start a new game? Maybe try to direct a new story or seomthing. Love the idea. Quote
ozzy Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 (edited) Hey Bruce, welcome to the forum. Hope you enjoy yourself. If you have any questions, I volunteer our moderators to answer them. Edited January 12, 2010 by ozzy Quote
JudoMinja Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 Hmm.. I'm a movie-quoting buff myself, thanks to my brother. Some of my personal favorites for quoting are The Emporers New Groove, The Princess Bride, Finding Nemo (caught your quote- thats why I looked at this thread ), and Montey Python's The Holy Grail.
