Churchmouse Posted February 6, 2010 Report Posted February 6, 2010 We were lucky. They were talking about a foot or more, but the temperature stayed high enough that we only got about 3 inches. To the east of us wasn't so lucky. More than a foot and in Washington D.C. a great deal more than that. There is one positive spin to this. If Congress can't get to the chamber they can't do any more harm. If the snow doesn't melt till next January we're safe. Quote
Guest Godless Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 BWI got about two feet, and that's about 10 minutes away from my hometown. I've been making a lot of people jealous by mentioning the sunny and fairly warm weather down here in TX. Quote
pam Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 As long as it stays in the east I'm okay. Though I do feel bad as some have been without power and that's not good in the cold temps. It's amazing though to see the news reports of people wiping out portions of the grocery stores to stock up. Interesting because what have we always been counseled to do? Just for these kinds of situations. Quote
pam Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 haha two feet is a lot to me when I'm only 5' tall. Quote
Blackmarch Posted February 9, 2010 Report Posted February 9, 2010 haha two feet is a lot to me when I'm only 5' tall.2 feet is really annoying to shovel too... Quote
HEthePrimate Posted February 9, 2010 Report Posted February 9, 2010 Alas, it's snowing again here, too. Don't really want to go out, because of the weather, but I'll be darned if I'll be stuck at home on my day off, only to have to go out tomorrow for work!! So, I'm going to a movie today (and a bookstore--yippee!! rubbing my hands together in anticipation) just to defy the weather. HEP Quote
MichaelCraig Posted February 9, 2010 Report Posted February 9, 2010 2 feet huh? I am SO glad I live in the deep south. I'm only 3 1/2 ft tall and I'd be in serious trouble, maybe need a snorkle in snow that deep. I know there are fellow little people in that region. I wonder how they deal with it. :| Quote
LDSVALLEY Posted February 9, 2010 Report Posted February 9, 2010 Funny think is in British Columbia which is a big ski area and where the Winter Olympics starts this week they have had no snow. They are having to truck snow in! Quote
Churchmouse Posted February 9, 2010 Author Report Posted February 9, 2010 We dodged the heavy snow earlier this week, but weren't as lucky this time. Four inches fell today and expecting 3 more tonight and then more snow tomorrow. Then the forecast is a large storm this weekend. I keep thinking only two months until I'll be taking straw off strawberries for this year and planting new ones for next year. Looking outside it's hard to believe it's that close. Quote
Churchmouse Posted February 9, 2010 Author Report Posted February 9, 2010 Looking over these posts, I may be the oldest person here but at 5'4" I'm not the shortest.:) Quote
Truegrits Posted February 13, 2010 Report Posted February 13, 2010 Amazing...we had SNOW last night!!!! It snowed in south Georgia. What a "once in a lifetime" experience for a lot of us. Everyone was driving around, taking pictures with cell phones to send to family and friends...it was really funny to see. The car dealerships were full of people snapping and sending pixs of the snow-covered vehicles in the lots...LOL...and yes, I sent off a few to my friends in Naples... Quote
Churchmouse Posted February 15, 2010 Author Report Posted February 15, 2010 Eight more inches due by Tuesday morning. It's so heavy I can't see our dogs in the back. Of course, they are white. They kind of blend in. The kids here are going to have to have year round school just to get in the 180 days requires by state law. Quote
pam Posted February 15, 2010 Report Posted February 15, 2010 It's actually supposed to be 50 degrees in SLC tomorrow. Quote

Churchmouse Posted February 15, 2010 Author Report Posted February 15, 2010 It's actually supposed to be 50 degrees in SLC tomorrow.Have you had an unusual amount of snow this year? I know you normally get more than we do. Quote
Moksha Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 Perhaps we got a little carried away last year praying for moisture. Quote
pam Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 No, no unusual amount. I would have thought by now we would have had much more. What's important is whether the mountains are getting the snow. That's where we get our water from. Quote
