Depends on the publication. The more professional, the less I would want to see it. Twitter, facebook, blogs, maybe. Professional journals, novels, newspaper articles, no way.

It also is one of the most unprofessional marks I have ever seen.

I do not think I would use it. Sarcasm is kind of like a joke, if you have to explain it then it really falls flat. The SarcMark does just that, it explains the sarcasm. I highly doubt that it will become well used.

I wouldn't use it either. I can be REALLY sarcastic and its hurt people's feelings. So I self-censor and try to curb its use.

It reminds me a bit of the frownie, the punctuation mark that used to be used at a site called descenders dotc om -- a site that makes a living out of negativity and cynicism, and not suprisingly, seems to be out of business now!.

The frownie has now been copywrited by Despair.com. They are still in business and they are the creators of the demotivators, much like motivational posters except not, these posters tell it like it is.
