gabelpa Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 Depends on the publication. The more professional, the less I would want to see it. Twitter, facebook, blogs, maybe. Professional journals, novels, newspaper articles, no way. It also is one of the most unprofessional marks I have ever seen. Quote
hordak Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 Heck yeah, I'm going to buy punctuation ^ Don't need the sarc mark after all:D Quote
MarginOfError Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 wouldn't it defeat the purpose and entertainment value of sarcasm to display that it's in use? Quote
Tarnished Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 I do not think I would use it. Sarcasm is kind of like a joke, if you have to explain it then it really falls flat. The SarcMark does just that, it explains the sarcasm. I highly doubt that it will become well used. Quote
Guest mormonmusic Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 I wouldn't use it either. I can be REALLY sarcastic and its hurt people's feelings. So I self-censor and try to curb its use. It reminds me a bit of the frownie, the punctuation mark that used to be used at a site called descenders dotc om -- a site that makes a living out of negativity and cynicism, and not suprisingly, seems to be out of business now!. gabelpa Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 There's already a "sarcasm" punctuation mark out there, called the Irony Mark. Look it up on wikipedia. Another one to look up is the interrobang. Quote

They are still in business and they are the creators of the demotivators, much like motivational posters except not, these posters tell it like it is.Despair, Inc. - Creators of Demotivators® Posters, Calendar, Coffee Mugs, Apparel and More Quote
