Guest bizabra Posted January 8, 2006 Report Posted January 8, 2006 http://www.philosophersnet.com/games/god.htmI thought this was interesting. I took only one hit and came out of it with a "rational thinking" award of some sort. Try it yourself! Quote
Jason Posted January 8, 2006 Report Posted January 8, 2006 Took two hits, and bit two bullets. I think the test is flawed. It obviously was not made with a Deist in mind. Quote
CharlieDesRosiers Posted January 8, 2006 Report Posted January 8, 2006 That was certainly entertaining. Hooray for being somewhat rational, huh? Quote
Traveler Posted January 8, 2006 Report Posted January 8, 2006 It appears to me that the questions and answers are arranged to create hits and exceptions. I had one hit based on the defination of rational. Rational has to do with evidence not how anyone feels. If there is no evidence for or against anything there is not rational to it. It is faith regardless if it has to do with a monster or G-d. The Traveler Quote
Josie Posted January 8, 2006 Report Posted January 8, 2006 I thought it was very interesting that God was referred by the word "she" over and over.... Quote

I figured an ordained pentecostal preacher had little hope of surviving such a game. I'd further mitigate my results by adjusting my definition of an atheist as being only potentially so based purely on faith, since the test attempts to point out that just as monetheists can arrive at their convictions based upon some evidence mixed with some faith, so atheists do likewise. On the other hand, I'll either have to firm up my research on theistic evolution or take a hit next time.Overall, a fun test--as promised. Guest Gilvisto Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 Eh? I had one problem with the thing, and that was that it doesn't account for any internal evidences or impressions. I considered conformation of the Holy Ghost in my answers, and so I seemed to contradict myself, whereas in reality one question left room for that consideration, the other one didn't. I died (4 hits) Quote
LionHeart Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 I think the test was rigged. I clearly told it that I didn't think it was right to torture the innocent, however, when I said it was wrong for the serial rapist to do his thing because he had an inner conviction that it was God's will, it gave me a hit. It was clearly designed by atheists to trap religionists. Anyway, who is to say that the rapist wasn't just using that as an excuse? Until they knew the true inner convictions of this rapist, I don't think they can rightfully use that in the test. My inner convictions tell me that he was just a lustful rapist. His very actions tell me that he wasn't convinced he was doing God's will because he raped and killed them because they were prostitutes. Wouldn't raping them be much the same basic sin as prostitution? Now if he just killed them, his mental state might be more believable. Quote
Ray Posted September 21, 2006 Report Posted September 21, 2006 Zero hits. Zero bullets. I got the TPM award… whatever that is. Out of 336,751 people who took the test, I ranked in the top 7.68% And btw, if you’re interested, I’ll show you my answers and my thoughts: 1. True (I know God does truly exists) 2. False (Man can also determine what is moral) 3. False (There are some things even God cannot do) 4. False (Nope. Doesn’t have to. That’s just the way God is) 5. False (There are some things even God cannot do) 6. True (all things can evolve to be better… until they’re the best there is) 7. False (all things are not just just because someone may think so) 8. False (Nope. Doesn’t have to. That’s just the way God is) 9. True (Man can also determine what is moral) 10. True (yes it is rational, but it may not be true. Rationality doesn’t prove anything) 11. False (Nope. They don’t need to. Sometimes it is unavoidable, though) 12. False (There are some things even God cannot do) 13. False (Nope. Not foolish. It makes sense to believe in God.) 14. False (it’s a matter of faith AND rationality. They are not mutually exclusive) 15. False (Nope. It was wrong. Both God and all men should know that) 16. False (There are some things even God cannot do) 17. False (having a firm, inner conviction that something is true doesn’t make something true or not true) Quote
JoshuaFKon Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 Battleground AnalysisCongratulations! You have been awarded the TPM medal of distinction! This is our second highest award for outstanding service on the intellectual battleground. The fact that you progressed through this activity being hit only once and biting very few bullets suggests that your beliefs about God are well thought out and almost entirely internally consistent. The direct hit you suffered occurred because one set of your answers implied a logical contradiction. The bitten bullets occurred because you responded in ways that required that you held views that most people would have found strange, incredible or unpalatable. At the bottom of this page, we have reproduced the analyses of your direct hit and bitten bullets.Because you only suffered one direct hit and bit very few bullets, you qualify for our second highest award. A good achievement!Josh B)3. False (There are some things even God cannot do)Can God lie?Josh B) Quote
