I haven't done this before, so tips etc are appreciated.

I'm in a creative mood and want to make some fun valentine treats. I am wanting to do chocolate dipped pineapple (hubby's favourite fruit) or alternatively strawberries. I get the general gist of the process but am wondering what's the best chocolate to use? Is there a special kind or specific type of chocolate best suited for dipping/covering fruit? Once made, I'm going to box them up, so they're not gonna be eaten right away.

UPDATE

I made them :]

I think they turned out fantabulous. Thanks again everyone for your help.

Go a dark chocolate instead of a milk chocolate (unless he positively detests dark chocolate). That's pretty much the extent of my suggestion, but milk chocolate combined with fruit tends to be overly sweet where as a nice juicy and sweet strawberry (or piece of pineapple) with dark chocolate gives you a nice contrast.

There's a chocolate made specifically for dipping fruits in that they usually have at grocery stores (my mom can pick it up in Wisconsin, while I can pick it up here in Idaho, so it seems it's pretty popular). It's called Dolci Frutta. My mom's used it numerous times to dip apples, pineapples, strawberries, even grapes... potato chips, too (sooo good), and it's worked amazingly. :)

Why oh why did I have to read this thread? When I'm trying so hard to be good. I LOVE chocolate covered strawberries.

I'm going to look for this tomorrow and make chocolate dipped pineapples!

This is, by far, the most evil filled thread for a person of my stature. I demand it to be locked and deleted before I commit acts of whoredoms with this

Omgoodness! HappySlip! Haven't watched her channel in ages.. Thanks for the video :] I'll check out the other links as well. Then sometime this morning I'll run to the grocery store and pickup some chocolate and some fruit and get started! I'll post pix IF they turn out as planned.. I'm really picky and critical of my own projects so don't hold your breath!

Chocolate Dipped Update!

OK so I was a little excited about doing this..

I went to my local grocery store and couldn't find pineapple. So I did strawberries instead and right next to the fresh strawberries was Dolci Frutta. It is an amazing product! Quick, easy and most importantly, it is fabulously delicious! My prep time in the kitchen was about ten minutes—that's it! So I'd definitely recommend this chocolate dipping method to others :]

Anyway, to spruce it up a bit, I decided to add some crushed nuts and some pink sugar to my chocolate dipped strawberries. I have an assortment of 15. Some are plain, some have nuts, some have pink sugar and some have a combination of the two. Here they are!
