I sense that you don't have a testimony of the restoration of the Gospel, priesthood restoration, keys, administration and the role of confession in atoning for one's sins.

You may be a baptized member, but I sense that you're not fully converted.

Okay well It appears the point here has been proved that we are judges indeed if we are capable of deciding what is sin and what is not. Goodness guilt...how can one not feel guilty when you are told you will feel guilty if you {insert whatever you want}.

I was only wanting the girl to see that GOD loves her not her actions be they good or bad. It is the Lords job to change the hearts of people.

We try to do Gods work and neglect the "weighter matters of the law" LOVE LOVE LOVE that is what GOD has asked us to do. HE and only HE can bring to Pass the immortality and eternal life of his children.

The joy of conversing with Mormons...always ending up in GOD's business when we can't handle our own messes tehehehehehe!

Where do the scriptures say we're not supposed to identify what sin is?

Thanks for your replies. Lots of praying, reading, rest, and so on has made my mind much easier. I am still working on it all. I no longer feel so horrid. I am not dismissing what I have done. I am still working on repentance.

I really liked the quote about being a hospital, not a museum. I do have a tendency to REALLY beat myself up about not feeling worthy enough for the temple, no matter how I am living my life at the moment. I think I should somehow achieve perfection, when that is never possible for anyone. Doesn't mean I should assume that I can go to the temple no matter what, but that I need to cut myself some slack.

Ahhh now the truth comes out!

Looks like I just managed to prove the point, we are judges and jurors...

I am so grateful to Heavenly Father who looks upon the heart and not the outward appearance because from what you said, had I not a testimony I would be offended, but I know you really believe what you said and you mean no harm.

I on the other hand know that GOD loves me and Jesus is the Christ, the only begotten son of the living God who suffered, bled and died for me so that I can one day go back to the Father.

I didn't judge you. I made an observation.

God blessed me with two eyes, two ears, one mouth (but two hands to type this).

God blessed me with intelligence.

I have made an observation based on the types of posts you have made and the immediate impression you have shown for your first few posts.

I have made a judgement based on your participation in this forum. (Regardless of being a moderator or not, we are blessed with discernment.)

I am judging your participation on this forum... not your eternal soul. THAT'S the difference.

Skippy, you're a judgmental cretin. No offense.

Wait, let me try again.

Skippy, I know you mean well. Your sad judgmentalism and pathetic attempt to understand me illustrate the sorry state of your soul. But I know that you meant no harm. You simply lack the spiritual and intellectual facilities to engage me on my level. Am I offended when a child belches? Am I offended when a dog rides my leg? Am I offended when you offend me? Of course I am not. I am well above such puerile reactions.

I'm not trying to be condescending. I'm simply way ahead of you in my spiritual progression, and I understand that I must tolerate you. I mean, be tolerant of your ideas.

In the end. I'm good. I'm a Mormon. And I'm a girl. Or at least two of those three. Or one. Even if I'm none of those, that's not really the point, is it? Quit changing the subject.

Semantics is a great game. It's all good. I know that My Redeemer Lives.

Here is to the Restored Gospel!

GoodMormonGirl, do you believe that bishops are judges of Israel? Do you believe that someone who sins and feels the need to confess, should confess to their bishop?

@skippy740....Awww come on...what is this blacks in the scripture business????

Leave the girl alone. Honey read your scriptures

* the woman caught in adultery

* the woman at the well

* the woman with the alabaster box

Jesus is about forgiveness.

Didn't you make a judgment here that Skippy doesn't read the scriptures?

I'm appalled that she called him "honey". I don't think such blatant flirting with a married man is at all appropriate. Especially from a Good Mormon Girl.

And you have also formed an opinion or judgement? (See, we ALL do it, don't we?) :D

My assumption is that most women in the southern part of the US call EVERYONE "honey" or "sugar". (I served my mission in the south, so I do have knowledge of this.)

Of course, she didn't call anyone else "honey" in this thread...

I'm appalled that she didn't come up with a more creative pet name like "pudding buns". Honey is so cliche.

My husband loves pet names more than anything in this world. He's not gritting his teeth when I say that. He's just smiling funny.

GoodMormonGirl, do you believe that bishops are judges of Israel? Do you believe that someone who sins and feels the need to confess, should confess to their bishop?

It appears that the quote you picked as your signature tells it all

I say that we need to teach our people to find their answers in the scriptures...But the unfortunate thing is that so many of us are not reading the scriptures. We do not know what is in them, and therefore we speculate about things that we ought to have found in the scriptures themselves. I think that therein is one of our biggest dangers of today."

--President Harold B. Lee, December, 1972

Rom 12:1-2 is what Pres Lee is talking. Repenting and Renewing your mind to think like God does are two different things.

If you use Repent in the greek meaning it means to change direction. According to Syclla she has tried, repented, beat herself up and still she is in the mire. Clearly the masturbation or Bishops being Judges in Israel is not the issue here.

Feast upon the words of Christ...they will tell you all things to do!

No one thought this was funny? Seriously? Time for another 18-month hiatus.

Tone and intent can sometimes get lost on an internet forum.

I thought it was well written! And a great illustration to my point too! LOL!

EDIT: I didn't read that other thread until now! I get it! :)

Nice avoidance of answering the question.

Do you believe or not that a person should confess sins to a bishop?

Posted

Ok, so doesn't believe in confessing sins to a bishop. Now you have piqued my curiosity....

Do you believe that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints holds the priesthood authority of God? Do you believe the LDS church is led by Jesus Christ through a living prophet?

Jesus is about forgiveness.

Jesus is also about "go, and sin no more".

If you're looking for an audience for your doctrine of Nicolaism, you've come to the wrong place.

Do you really think that Elder Packer or President Lee--two of the most hard-line leaders this Church has ever produced--are going to support your notion that confession to priesthood leaders is irrelevant to the repentance process and that the Church's interpretation of the Law of Chastity is "silly ridiculous crap"?

Ohhhh that is a good one I love it!

Hmmm back to Romans...6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under law but under grace.

Rom 6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid

It appears as always when talking to fellow Mormons its never about the doctrine of Christ, it is always about proving a point someone has to be right.

You cannot be in Christ and believe that sinning is the order of the day. I mean really?

Like Paul says he came to know Sin because the Law said don't...

The scriptures also tell me that the LOVE OF GOD CONSTRAINS US...hmmmm it seems to me knowing that God loves you, keeps you safe, because you are Christ centered. Having to be constantly worried about a set of rules = self-centeredness and it always leads to sin. You know that!

Ah Joseph Smith..."I teach them correct principles and let people govern themselves!"

  • Are you a girl?
  • Are you Mormon?
  • Are you good?
