You are not living a good and moral life if you openly reject Christ, in the sense you are talking about. Denying that Jesus is the Christ (under the right conditions) is a sin that can never be forgiven.

the only 'right' way is to KNOW Jesus is the Christ and denying it. Not too many people are going to fit in there.

You are absolutely correct, I believe that is the context he is speaking of. If I have misunderstood then I apologize, and by all means disregard my response. I am under the impression that Maygrace is talking about rejecting Christ in the most severe sense.

You may be right. :) I guess he is going to have to let us know!

So, if I live a good moral life but reject Jesus, I would spend eternity in hell? In torment?

Also the Bible says "Every knee shall bow, every tongue confess, that Jesus is the Christ." So eventually all will accept Him, but it's not just about accepting Him as savior, but about accepting His message of repentance and turning toward God. Many people talk about "deathbed confessions" but I believe it is not your confession, but your countenance, and God knows your heart and if you are truly a believer. The Bible says "we will know Him because we will be like Him".

A book you might want to look through is True to the Faith. It is a little reference book that gives short blurbs on the LDS perspective of different topics. For example, you could read through the section on hell and learn that LDS people will use that word in two different ways. You could read through the section on the kingdoms of glory to learn the LDS beliefs of what heaven is like. You could learn how we view grace, salvation, eternal life and even what we view as scripture.

Hope that helps. :)

I have only been a member for a week or so and I have learned much. At first I was a little aggravated that when I posted scripture from the KJV Bible to make a point and very little weight was given to it. In one thread I learned out why. The poster mentioned that the LDS doubt the content of the KJV Bible. In that same thread other posts went as far as to making the versus in the KJV that I and others referenced to into a punch line. They took great pride in doing so. Even though I was shocked, I will defend your right ( even to death ) to have the freedom of speaking freely. So, I found out that the basis of our disagreements was that we have different sources for what we believe is the Word of God and the Gospel in each source is polar opposites. So my question for the LDS members is this: Assume the KJV of the bible is the only true Word of God available. All of it's content is reliable as truth. What would that Gospel (good news) look like?

I'm sorry if some folks made fun of it or your use of it. LDS place a lot of weight in the bible, however we arecognizant that prophets even inspired are men, and that those who pass such records on are men, and God allows men to be fallable, even those within his word- Hence we don't believe that it is perfectly inerrant currently.

We do doubt certain intrepretations and creeds regarding it more often rather than the text itself, which is where most of the debate and contending comes in.

As to the question were it to be the only source of God's word, then we would still be mostly lost in the wilderness still, for then the spirit would not be allowed to give revelation.

And were you to ask the exact same question about the Book of Mormon I would give the same answer.
