lisajo Posted September 4, 2006 Report Posted September 4, 2006 I am having a problem with all the continued post trying to debate our religion, What happened to this place, i am getting sick of being someones Theo project, and havent found many post lately other than these, This to me has been taken over by some one who just won't take our answer and move along, I know everyone is well come but this stuff is taking over the bored sooooooooo much i don't like comming here anymore! I am not here to sit and deffend and try to prove my religion to a non member on a daily basis, i am here for the friends i have made ( Lds and Non) and enjoy and LDS related site, but it's never posted much anymore just the posts asking us to defend our religion (how i see it) Lisa
prisonchaplain Posted September 4, 2006 Report Posted September 4, 2006 I tried to post a string, just looking for LDS perspectives on, among other topics, the nature of God. Never really meant it to become a debate. It appears to have gone that route, and gotten overheated. It looked good for awhile, but then personalities and feelings got over-invested, and things turned a bit personal. IMHO 'theological projects' are not the problem. It's the oneuppersonsship, in which posters start to try to best one another, first through logic, then through humor, and occasional, and unfortunately, ultimately through a who's smarter, who's right, who's fair, who's the victim...etc. I love the fact that we can talk about religion here, and usually do it with intelligence and grace. Too bad immaturity sometimes turns the conversation sour.

lisajo Posted September 5, 2006 Author Report Posted September 5, 2006 I am sorry i started this thread.............To all my Non LDS friends whom i love it was not aimed at you....yes i admitt it was aimed at one person, I am sorry to those who are my friends if it had offened you, i just feel Joshua K has littered this site with alot of waisted banwith! LISA JO
Guest MrsS Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 I agree, I feel that all of his Topics are really one and the same. He asks questions, we answer, he doesn't like the answer so he asks the same questions. We try to answer again using language he should understand, he doesn't like that answer so he again asks the same questions. Asked, and answered. Asked, and answered. Asked, and answered. Asked, and answered. Asked, and answered. Asked, and answered. , etc. Isn't it time to put a stop to this?

miztrniceguy Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 as i have watched these various threads about the same thing it occured to me.....why keep answering....? asked, answered times 2....i would quit answering and move on

prisonchaplain Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 We've seen it before. This too shall pass.
Princess3dward Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 Although he is littering the board with all his new threads, earlier today i looked and he had like 8 in the new posts section, all he had started. We should be really careful what we say, and make sure we are talking about the posts and not the person... I think anyway...

john doe Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 I think there's one answer to this problem. Please don't feed the trolls. When they finally stop getting people to take the bait, they will go somewhere else. I knew from day one this guy wasn't as sincere as he claimed to be, but inevitably someone took the bait and decided they could 'straighten him out' about our beliefs when he obviously wasn't interested in understanding them.
lisajo Posted September 5, 2006 Author Report Posted September 5, 2006 this place has gotten to crazy for me, to the member who pm'd me this...................... What is this guy your boyfriend? Are you kidding me? I bash him because he doesn't believe what we believe? No I bash him with the truth....the guy has one purpose...to put down everything we believe...he only asks questions that he has an anti-Mormon answer to....everytime I've given him an answer to a question he won't accept it....he just basically tells me I'm wrong...you really think he cares about what we believe? Not a chance....these so called Christians are only here to try and "convert" us out of the faith because this is what they are taught to do...I see this one has you snowed...well loved member? yeah he's got you snowed...he'd love nothing more than to see you give up the truth...and that is exactly what the Lord has warned us about. So before you start calling me names and judging me...maybe you should examine what it is you believe. (this was About PC) Sounds like your not a member of the LDS faith to me. And to the non member who just wants to play TAG the mormon on the site. I hope you were as entertained as you thought you would be, your not here to find out about our faith, your here to do the same thing this member i quoted is here for ( ahhhhhhhh you figure out what i mean) I will come back some time when the crazy stuff is gone. Much love Lisajo
Princess3dward Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 I will miss you. And, I know he doesn't want to know... Perhaps he is moving on? He is on less now...
shanstress70 Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 I'm even an ex-mormon and I find it boring and annoying. I understand what you mean, Lisajo. I haven't even been going to the Gospel section anymore lately... I prefer to keep it in the more general areas.
pushka Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 Perhaps I'm too easy going, but if I was an LDS on here I would be thankful of the opportunity to teach other Non LDS about my faith by answering the questions posed by JoshuaK. Lisajo, I don't know if your remarks in your last post were aimed at me..about being entertained and wanting to play TAG, I hope not, but just in case they were I just want you to know that I do enjoy hearing both the questions and the answers about different religious beliefs, not just LDS, and if I believed in something strongly I would not tire of educating others about my beliefs...you cannot guarantee that the person listening will believe you/alter their beliefs, but at least you are confirming your beliefs to yourself and others...somebody out there might read what you say and change their point of view as a result of it...be proud!! :) (tho not in a way that Jesus would object to, lol)

Dr T Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 Des, Is any answer/question that looks at the other site of the issue/argument to LDS belief always considered "anti"? Thanks, Dr. T
Princess3dward Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 Not unless there is anti proof behind it... also, if they are bashing testimony saying it isn't enough.
prisonchaplain Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 Des,Is any answer/question that looks at the other site of the issue/argument to LDS belief always considered "anti"? Thanks,Dr. TDr. T, you, I and several others have asked questions from the other side, without our motives being questioned. We ask, listen, occasionally followup, and sometimes even say, "Wait a minute, that doesn't seem right to me." JoshuaK raised suspicions amongst many LDS posters here, because he'd ask a seemingly open question, and then, after a response that he may have anticipated, he'd pounce with lengthy quotes from Scriptures and other sources.I'm not going to pretend to know the depths of his motives. My guess is that like us, he wanted to learn and share. However, he seemed to have wanted to share (i.e. teach) much more aggressively than he was willing to listen/learn. That was the impression, right or wrong, that many had. Some folk, like Pushka, say, "Hey, at least he's asking. Don't slam him--teach him." Others have less tolerance, and say, "I'm not here to battle. I'll not subject myself to non-stop interrogation." Perhaps both responses are legitimate.Ultimately, each of us will have to decide for ourselves, "what would Jesus do?" Or, as, which response could I give that would = "choose the right?"
Princess3dward Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 Thank you tons PC! That is how I feel too!
JoshuaFKon Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 Dear LDSTalk, I was trying to avoid posting on this thread, however I have decieded to answer some of the accusations made against me. I would like to say how hurtful this thread was to me, of course your are intitled to your opinions...but personally if I was in your shoes, I would email the moderators, address the person directly, (nicely) or just ignore them. However, of course it is your choice. On this board I have always tried to be as polite and respectful as possible, I have tried to word things so they do not offend, I held held my tounge when I have answers that I consider true, but I know would hurt mormons. I believe my questions were fair questions, you'll notice I never said anything about DNA evidence, why? because I felt the offical answer made enough sense I didn't have to question it. I have never called you a cult, in fact for much of my time posting on here I felt mormons were christians (I have changed my mind due to the fact that two people on here told me that murder might by an unforgivable sin) Does mearly the fact that I do not agree with you make me an "anti-mormon"? A majority of the posters on this site, have called me, a "follower of satan", a "liar, etc." I was told I was "deliberatly trying to decieve" and many, many, other cruel and un-christ like remarks were made to me. I answered no one back with anger, and was always as polite as possible. If I had come in here and displayed the anger that people have shown me I am sure I would have been banned (and rightly so) I thank the few (about 6 I believe) people who even attempted to answer my questions. Also, because it is stressful to me to be continually condemed for my motives (which you all appear to magically "know") I will no longer be posting on this site, except for one last post on my original thread. I forgive you all, I don't believe you are deliberatly cruel; merely, judgemental, hypersensitive, and closed-minded. I would like to thank, pushka and Dr. T, for defending me. Also, Desiré...I have no hard feelings against you, I think you're a very nice person, (even though you confuse me at times :) ) Thank you, Josh B)
Princess3dward Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 ...in fact for much of my time posting on here I felt mormons were christians (I have changed my mind due to the fact that two people on here told me that murder might by an unforgivable sin) Does mearly the fact that I do not agree with you make me an "anti-mormon"? No. We have non members on this site who are not anti-mormon... yet they disagree with SOMETHING we believe, because they are not members. We are christians... according to the definition.. we are. Also, Desiré...I have no hard feelings against you, I think you're a very nice person, (even though you confuse me at times :) ) That makes me happy, and don't worry.. I confuse everyone I talk to. My dad says I have no communication skills.Love, Desiré
Heather Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 I myself just tend to leave those kind of threads alone, posting little tidbits, but never really getting involved, because everything just goes around in circles, and no one will ever be satisfied. Especially when it comes to the recent threads, that are posted by those who do have a belief in God themselves. My take on it is, they can't prove to me that God exists. They can't prove any of their beliefs to me as fact. So if they're looking for proof in my beliefs, they need to find a new topic of discussion, because religious beliefs go beyond a simple math problem.
