Dr T Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 My wife and I went out to Ruth's Chris this weekend. It is a steak house (they also make seafood dishes). Everything there is ala carte. Although very expensive, the meal was phenomenal. I had a 12 oz. Filet (it was so tender and juicy) with a side of asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes. The meat is prepared in an 1800 degree oven and they are brought out to the table on 500 degree plates. I am only telling you all this because, if any of you like steak, I would highly recommend it! :) Great desserts too by the way. Quote

It's been a long time since I've had steak, and have been craving it for a while. Now that the post-meetingblock "break-the-fast" potluck dinner is beginning to wear off (it was 5-1/2 hours ago, I realize with shock!), your post makes me want to run out to a steak house.Too bad it's Sunday!Dror Quote
Dr T Posted November 6, 2006 Author Report Posted November 6, 2006 I'm starting to hunger for it myself. Made with salt and pepper and butter. Flavorful in every bite! Great bread, wine and stuffed mushrooms for appetizers. Quote
Palerider Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 We recently went to a Kobie Steak House...they fix the food right in front of you....excellent stuff... Quote

Dr T Posted November 6, 2006 Author Report Posted November 6, 2006 A 24 oz. filet? Wow! I've never had a Longhorn. If it's half the price-I would def. try it! Quote

Dr T Posted November 6, 2006 Author Report Posted November 6, 2006 Pomona and Baldwin Park. I used to work for Pomona Unified School district (Lincoln and Kennedy Elementary schools) and I also worked in Balkwin Park. I must have been following you around. :) Quote
shanstress70 Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 I have always wanted to try Ruth's Chris... we have one here. But everytime we decide to, we fall back to our old favorite, the Angus Barn. The prices are about the same, very expensive, so we only go there for anniversaries, promotions, or some other really special occasion. (Although we've been known to really stretch here creating a special occasion!)Starts out with crackers and aged cheddar cheese spread, then a relish tray. Next comes the salad... my pick is spinach salad with warm bacon dressing, boiled eggs, bacon, mushrooms. Then the bacon wrapped filet, and stuffed potato, and the best buttered grilled bread you've ever tasted. If you're ever in Raleigh, NC... Quote

I dunno...I tried it once, and the line was way too long, the food just so-so. i must be weird though...my aunt and uncle come down to visit from utah, and their first stop is always at in-n-out! Dr T Posted November 6, 2006 Author Report Posted November 6, 2006 In all the years I think I only had one "fair" burger from In and Out and it was in Las Vegas. I'd suggest trying it again. When I was a child, I didn't really like the fries that much. Now, I like them. Quote
StrawberryFields Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 I agree, In and Out is overrated. Quote
Blessed Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 Anchorage just got a Golden Corral and depsite it being in the teen's only... people stood in line for hours to get inside to eat their buffet. I don't see that happeneing anywhere else in the US. LOL Quote
Dr T Posted November 6, 2006 Author Report Posted November 6, 2006 Golden Corral buffet. I'm assuming various food-but what is the big draw? Good meat? Quote
BenRaines Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 In and Out. Try the fries animal style. Fries with grilled onions, two slabs of cheese and dressing on top. A heart attack waiting to happen. Ben Raines Quote

Dr T Posted November 6, 2006 Author Report Posted November 6, 2006 I'm with you Ben. I like the fries animal style too. If you don't want that-at least ask for a side of sauce that you can dip the fries in. Quote
