pam Posted June 23, 2013 Report Posted June 23, 2013 The November 2010 leadership training broadcast had a couple of remote locations, didn't it? Or were those pre-taped? Well Skippy did say it's the first he's heard. I took it to mean it's the first one he's listened to that had broadcast from remote locations. Quote

I think it was the latter. Quote

pam Posted June 23, 2013 Report Posted June 23, 2013 Love the idea for members to keep missionaries so busy they don't have time to knock on doors. Quote
pam Posted June 23, 2013 Report Posted June 23, 2013 Now the tears hearing President Monson talking about his wife. Quote

annewandering Posted June 24, 2013 Report Posted June 24, 2013 I love the idea of building a ward from the ground up. What an inspired idea the bishop there had. Quote

Guest Doctrine Posted June 24, 2013 Report Posted June 24, 2013 Guided tours of meeting houses! Pretty cool!Is that new for some our stake has been doing that for a few years now. Also the missionary's going on the Internet has also been going on here for awhile. Quote
annewandering Posted June 24, 2013 Report Posted June 24, 2013 We should set our sights HIGH. We were told we dont need anyone to hold our hands and tell us how to walk. We are capable of doing this. So are we up for it? Quote
skippy740 Posted June 24, 2013 Report Posted June 24, 2013 Also the missionary's going on the Internet has also been going on here for awhile. Only for certain 'test' missions and it was a couple of years ago when they were on here. Hadn't had any here for quite a while... that I can think of. Quote
dahlia Posted June 24, 2013 Report Posted June 24, 2013 Guided tours of meeting houses! Pretty cool! When I was investigating (but probably before I admitted to myself I was investigating), I drove up to the meeting house just to take a look. I don't know if I would have taken a tour (more because I wouldn't have wanted to bother anyone), but I think it's great that missionaries will be available to those who want a tour.I did end up taking a tour with the missionaries toward the end of my lessons. We walked through a dark hallway with chairs with art work or pictures on them, just opposite the classroom door, so that the light from the classroom shone on the chair in the dark hall. Then we entered the sunlit chapel (with pictures of Pres Monson and the Apostles). It was a little hokey, but I appreciated the missionaries' time and effort. Quote

Yehshen Posted June 27, 2013 Report Posted June 27, 2013 I was surprized to learn this wasn't already happening on a regular basis, at least by appointment. I was a recent convert (about 18 months ago). I met the missionaries at the meeting house parking lot on my first visit, just to pick up the Book of Mormon, and they escorted me into the empty building and gave me a thorough tour. I'd never been to a meeting before, and it made me a lot more comfortable, having assessed the lay of the land, so to speak. Quote
