Gwen Posted June 23, 2013 Report Posted June 23, 2013 Huge mom fail and I'm hoping someone can help me out. My daughter wanted a set of blue scriptures for her bday. As I've called every lds bookstore I can find all over the country I'm learning they can't be found. In fact I can't even find a triple in any color anywhere. Maybe everyone else knew this but not being in UT I'm not always "in the know". With the new scriptures coming out they stopped printing any of the "old" ones a few months ago to clean out inventory. The new ones will not be produced in blue (only burgundy, black, and brown). So if anyone was really wanting to get the new ones but can't rationalize it because they have a blue set that is in too good of condition............ I'll buy them from you. lol You can feel good about making a little girl's day and have an excuse to order new ones in Aug. Win - win! Seriously, I'm looking for a blue bible or triple (I did actually find a bookstore with a bible so if all you have is a triple and we act fast I can match it). It's ok if it's gently used and I don't care if it has your name on the cover. I'll figure something out. lol I'm begging........... Quote
Wingnut Posted June 23, 2013 Report Posted June 23, 2013 Acetone will take the ink out of the embossed name on the cover, but the imprint will still be there. Nail polish with acetone in it would do it. Quote
Leah Posted June 23, 2013 Report Posted June 23, 2013 I have a blue triple and bible, almost brand new. I can also give you a source that will do a custom job. They are spend, though. Quote
Gwen Posted June 23, 2013 Author Report Posted June 23, 2013 Are you willing to part with them? I can message you my phone number and we can talk if you are. :) Quote
tubaloth Posted June 23, 2013 Report Posted June 23, 2013 (edited) I'm not sure if this is what you want... but Deseretbook has blue. DeseretBook.com - Bonded Leather Bible: Large, Indexed Blue by LDS Distribution CenterI'm not seeing a Quad (all 4 books in one). Just the Bible and the TripleIs this the blue you are thinking of?I would get it indexed-- I assume that means having the tabs on the outside. I always loved them. I have the same blue ones. Sad they aren't making the blue ones anymore. Edited June 23, 2013 by tubaloth Quote
slamjet Posted June 23, 2013 Report Posted June 23, 2013 One idea is custom scriptures, but I've never used them:Custom LDS Scriptures - Over 55 colors and 1,000's of options - Unique Editions of Standard Works - Home of the First Edition Quad and Deluxe Edition Quad Quote

bytor2112 Posted June 23, 2013 Report Posted June 23, 2013 Speaking of colored scriptures....I saw a sign that asked, "Are your scriptures red or read?". Only in the South... Quote
Gwen Posted June 23, 2013 Author Report Posted June 23, 2013 I heard a preacher on the radio talking about meeting a woman. The woman was apologizing because her scriptures were such a mess with markings, notes and even pages falling out. He told her not to be ashamed "A person whose bible is a mess most likely has a life that isn't". Quote
bytebear Posted June 24, 2013 Report Posted June 24, 2013 Have you considered getting a blue carrying case? Might be easier and gives her more pockets for stuff. Quote

Gwen Posted June 24, 2013 Author Report Posted June 24, 2013 She is the kind of kid that knows exactly what she wants and what she likes. She will plan things a yr in advance. She is very money conscious. She asked me back at christmas for them but our tradition has been for the 8th bday so I said to wait... bad idea. She has anticipated and planned this for the last yr. After spending about 2 hrs on the phone looking I finally told her the situation. She understood and said it was ok but that didn't change that she sat down and cried for awhile and again every time it came up. She had her heart set on blue. She can finally talk about it without crying but you can see the disappointment. Been talking to Leah and I think we are good to go. It's really an answer to a prayer. Posting here was kinda a last ditch effort. Sometimes we get blessed in spite of our mistakes/foolishness/ignorance (take your pick). lol She has already picked the carry case (blue with a little bit of pink), scripture marking pencils, and the scripture mastery stickers (I find the kids enjoy having pictures in there and the head start can't hurt). I took her shopping for a new dress and shoes to go with. lol She got her faith in god book from primary today so she could start preparing to work on that. These are all things she instigated, nobody else can move fast enough for her. lol Sometimes the pickiness is overwhelming but she's a good kid. She wants to do things right, helps me out alot, loves to teach her little sister things. It's hard to be too upset about the picky when she is so responsible in everything else. Quote
NightSG Posted June 26, 2013 Report Posted June 26, 2013 I'd like to find a Bible like my great grandma had; it was a KJV the size of a large-print edition, but with regular sized print and huge margins with lots of room for notes. She had filled a lot of that space, so I also hope I'll find out what happened to hers someday. Quote
Gwen Posted July 9, 2013 Author Report Posted July 9, 2013 My daughter got her scriptures Sat! It took her a min. to process it but she was soooo excited. :) Quote
Lakumi Posted July 9, 2013 Report Posted July 9, 2013 my bible is massively huge, bigger then my laptop... Its a perfect thing to sit on a table, and I do like the larger font, smaller font can be straining on my eyes. It was my uncle's (one of them) not sure why he had it because my family isn't religious, though he, like me, has read a lot of religious books and such. There's a big family tree in there, though my family has since recorded it extensively and have many records of that (kind of a proud hobby of theirs)... Quote
