But to the widow it wasn't a small sacrifice, it was all she had.

That's why I edited in, I realize you responded before that edit, "in absolute terms." in case someone was going to ignore the larger context of the conversation the statement was made in. Lakumi's statements have not been, "The Church won't want my tithing because it won't represent a sufficiently large percentage of my income/increase." He's been speaking in absolute terms.

no, but there are some jobs that don't give me any skills persay (detassiling corn or moving carts -both things I have done, come to mind).

I've been working since I was 10, full time since 17.

What I have noticed in the past few years is the less money and hours one gets from jobs. So many are part time now, least the ones that are open to me (can't go to school since I got no money).

Once upon a time work was enjoyable, now its a torment, I am in pain a lot of the time and they treat you like a slave.

And I very well could just sit on my butt, being mentally disabled I qualify for government assistance money or something- I donno what its called, I have pride, too much... and some days, most days, after my employers get mad because I am not working fast enough because they never trained me and its my first week... wonder why.

I am not gaining life skills working in these minimum wage junk jobs, I am being sucked dry and given the lowest they can legally pay me and nothing else.

As long as you have the attitude that certain jobs are beneath you, you won't move forward in the work world.

And I think that is something that Lakumi consistently misses with his, "Oh, my income is so small the Church wouldn't want my tithing on it." comments. Considering the blessings associated with paying tithing it boggles the mind that somewhere the Church is sitting there thinking, "The widow wants to keep the Law of Tithing, sacrifice for the Lord, and receive the blessings associated with obedience to the Law of Tithing by paying her mite? To bad, it's a pain to process."

no that's more a joke, because accounting jokes are ingrained in my mind due to knowing some and that happening

and the joke is, intimately that the amount might be so low, that not only does the church not receive any money, but they have to pay a fee which is more then the cheque is worth.

Which could be eliminated by just using cash (I don't even use cheques)...

I didn't even realize I wrote when...

well there's your sign it's meant to be

Be ready to figure out tithing and giving up coffee and schedule that interview. You're getting baptized on Oct 12.

I never liked coffee anyways, only teas I ever enjoyed were like pine needle tea, or dandelion tea

What's important about the 12th?

Your baptism date. Tell your missionaries.

I'm out of town this Sunday... suppose I could wander down there on Tuesday, or call them, did that number just come to you, or is this some giant conspiracy?

Call today. They need to do some stuff to prepare and carve out some time with the bishop.

And Opening Song for your baptism service is going to be The Spirit of God.

You have until the 12th to find some white underwear.

Don't forget to pray everyday when you wake up and before you go to bed asking the Spirit to guide you through the next 12 days. There will be some challenges along the way.

No conspiracy. The 12th is the perfect day. This weekend is general conference weekend, so you got tons of talks from the leaders of the church to strengthen and guide you. If you're not watching it on TV, it will be on lds.org or youtube soon enough.

And I'll be reporting on all the talks as they happen right here on lds.net. :)

they stream it live to my knowledge, since the last one that happened I watched and it was live (I remember waking up "early" to watch it)

I will say that the baptism will lack any of my crazy flair I inject into... well every part of my life... Feel like I should be a little serious for once

I'm sure they won't mind if you bring a few of your ball-jointed dolls to the baptism... :)
