prisonchaplain Posted May 9, 2007 Report Posted May 9, 2007 Aw shucks, PC, you had to go and have all the fun. B)I came, I saw, I facilitated a young man's theological journey. Isn't that just sacharrine? B)Prisonchaplain,Awww come on! The journey is the fun part. Let him discover all of this wonderful stuff. let him do his own research.I just gave rough notes. He has to put it together, smooth it out, and decide how much of what I wrote also does not fit his own church's teachings. OK, call mine the PC notes (aka Cliff Notes) post.Although, I gotta admit I liked a whole lot of your answers. (and as a side note, I stand corrected, it does mention Christian 3x in the bible)So...you think he'll build on what I wrote, and get his interview? Quote
prisonchaplain Posted May 9, 2007 Report Posted May 9, 2007 just got done with my interview. I must say that ThickAir was very pleasant. Didn't really go after me, but did have a hang up about polygamy and went down the road at the end. I gave him over an hour. I don't think he was an anti, or if he was, he was very pleasant about it.You mean I didn't have to do all that work to help him out? Quote

sixpacktr Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 PC, I don't know if he visited back or not. It would have helped him, I think. As I said, he was pleasant, but towards the end took up polygamy and then wanted to argue with what I had stated. When it moved to an argument, I thanked him and signed off. I was there to help him understand why we believe what we do, but not argue the points. It went a little downhill when he told me that Abraham was an adulterer (resulting in Ishmael) and that Hagar wasn't his wife (concubine) in his arguments against polygamy. That was when I told him my hour was up and had to go home. Anyway, I hope that he has a better understanding now. If my answers show up in the next "Godmakers" film, I know I was duped! Quote
prisonchaplain Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 Sixpacktr = "informed sources tell us" bwaaahahahahah! Seriously, I do not understand the fixation on polygamy. I guess it's a juicier subject. While I agree with my fellow evangelicals that God's best is that "the two become one," polygamy was at least tolerated throughout the Old Testament, and it frittered out by the New Testament, due as much to cultural mores as to anything Jesus said.
