Guest Posted December 2, 2013 Report Posted December 2, 2013 I thought it was from Polar Express. No, the Grinch. Cindy Who did a really great version of this song, better than Faith Hill's in my opinion. Quote
Guest Posted December 2, 2013 Report Posted December 2, 2013 Today we heard that "There won't be snow in Africa this Christmas/Do they know it's Christmastime", and thought, there won't be snow in Australia, either. . . and probably no, since they're mostly Muslim.I always got a smile on my face when that line is sung in the Band Aid song, of course there will be no snow in Arica at Christmas, its summer there! Most of Africa is in the northern hemisphere. This song was made for the relief efforts in Ethiopia. They're mostly Orthodox Christians there and December is winter but it doesn't get cold enough to have snow. Quote
Bini Posted December 2, 2013 Report Posted December 2, 2013 No, the Grinch. Cindy Who did a really great version of this song, better than Faith Hill's in my opinion.I haven't really compared the two, and it's been awhile since I'd seen the movie, but Faith is what plays on Slacker - so that's the version we belt out. In my head, I think I sing it a lot better than Faith Hill too. Quote
Guest Posted December 2, 2013 Report Posted December 2, 2013 The Christmas music from other countries and the songs that you like.M.Here's from the Philippines:I chose this song because it is in English. I chose the video because it shows different versions of the traditional Filipino Christmas Lantern, different beautiful nativity sets, and the lighted Filipino Cathedrals. It makes me homesick! I heard this song a few years back and I can't get the tune out of my head for days after. LOL. This song is what I grew up on. It's in Bisaya. I chose this one because it is sung by the Madrigal Singers. The only problem is the instruments in the background is very muted. It sounds much better with the folk guitars and tambourines and bells in the background. It sounds very Sinugbuhan! And here's a Christmas medley in the Pilipino language: Quote

Traveler Posted December 23, 2013 Report Posted December 23, 2013 Just a note: I perfer chorial Christmas music that highlight specifically the birth of Christ - I tier somewhat of the solo music that highlight Santa and all the other stuff. Perhaps an exception is Roger Whittaker and Mammheim Steamroller. The Traveler Quote
