Lakumi Posted May 8, 2014 Report Posted May 8, 2014 There's being against something then there's being bigots. I don't and will never consider someone who is merely against same sex marriage a bigot, but saying things like that... yeah bigots, "demonic ideologies" ?!You can't just spout off things and expect nothing to happen, even if its your beliefs.People are gonna react, this goes for, well anyone. If you're in the spotlight, you gotta know people are gonna, well critique what you say, and when you offend a bunch of people calling them demons, yeah I wouldn't want to watch anything with people like that on it. Example is that I think a lot of people (including myself) are misslead by satan and his idealogies, but I by no means think that I or everyone so mislead is satanic or demonic. In fact I think I'd agree that the attack on the family is a satanic ideology, meaning it originates with Satan, but I don't think everyone jumping on that train are necessarily satanic or anything of that ilk.I also think this is a natural expansion of what is already in our culture, we ostracise racists unrelentingly, ostracising anyone that can be labelled as a bigot is the natural extension of that. See... You can't trust journalists to tell it to you straight up... They want the shock factor so they splice up phrases from what one says to make it mean different... Remember how Zimmerman all of a sudden became branded as a racist? This is the full text of what was said:“We don’t realize that, okay, if 87 percent of Americans are Christians and yet we have abortion on demand; we have no-fault divorce; we have pornography and perversion; we have a homosexuality and its agenda that is attacking the nation; we have adultery; we have all of the things; we even have allowed demonic ideologies to take our universities and our public school systems while the church sits silent and just builds big churches,” Benham told the host. Lakumi Posted May 9, 2014 Report Posted May 9, 2014 Point being, there are... better ways to get ones point across. I mean I can have a conversation with any of you about same sex marriage and it remains civil.I don't consider anyone here a bigot. We simply disagree, I could go off on some tangent about "why should I listen to religions I don't believe in (and I don't-why would I?!)" but phrases like that make an argument seem, I donno cheap and crude. You can't talk to someone like that, its not a debate or discussion, just them yelling.Which church does he mean, Christianity as a collective thing? Quote

And it was very civil. It was for an interview with the host of a Christian Radio program. And he means Christian Churches as a collective telling the host what he finds lacking in Christian defense of their beliefs. Quote

pam Posted May 9, 2014 Report Posted May 9, 2014 Doesn't surprise me either as it seems that 50% of the people on House hunters and other shows they produce have gay couples. Quote

Bini Posted May 9, 2014 Report Posted May 9, 2014 Zimmerman may not be a racist but turns out he's a nut job with a long streak of anger management issues. So, yeh, he might have had other motives that night. Quote
