classylady Posted May 18, 2014 Report Posted May 18, 2014 Just wondering what's the difference between a guest and an anonymous user? I don't know if I've ever seen an anonymous user listed in the stats. Granted, I don't look at the stats all that often, but here are the stats from just a few minutes ago.-- 4 members, 90 guests, 0 anonymous users Quote
pam Posted May 18, 2014 Report Posted May 18, 2014 Good question. The answer is.... ummmmm...I don't know. I'll need to research. :) classylady 1 Quote
skippy740 Posted May 19, 2014 Report Posted May 19, 2014 I don't see the option in the "my settings" tab... but on other forums, you can "hide" your online status when you visit their forum. Those who are hiding their status would be the anonymous users. Quote

classylady Posted August 21, 2014 Author Report Posted August 21, 2014 Pam, did you ever learn the difference between a guest and anonymous user? Today, I do see both guests and anonymous users in the stats. Quote
Dr T Posted August 22, 2014 Report Posted August 22, 2014 IDK but it would seem to require a poster to sign in as a anonymous option so nobody could see they are looking around the forum? Just makes sense to me but u all know this new set up better than I do Quote
Palerider Posted August 22, 2014 Report Posted August 22, 2014 She may not be searching.....the Chargers might be playing and she would be screaming at her TV. Lol classylady 1 Quote
Blackmarch Posted September 15, 2014 Report Posted September 15, 2014 I don't know if it might be related to the problems i have been having recently with this site.. I"ll log in but nothing works it's as hto i were logged out - I can view things but, no posting or editing it's been very frustrating. SOmehow i've finally been able ot get in as usual by trying to go to my settings link, where it presented me with another login window.... which seems to work.I wonder if anon users are folks that are in the same situation as I and are in that limbo. pam Posted September 15, 2014 Report Posted September 15, 2014 No doesn't have anything to do with that. We realize there is a log in/log out issue again. Quote
Blackmarch Posted September 16, 2014 Report Posted September 16, 2014 Oh hey, i noticed on the second sign in page, there's an option to "SIgn in anonymously" that you can check. Quote
pam Posted September 16, 2014 Report Posted September 16, 2014 I knew there was an option but I have yet to find it. I don't ever see a second sign in page. Quote
Blackmarch Posted September 16, 2014 Report Posted September 16, 2014 (edited) I knew there was an option but I have yet to find it. I don't ever see a second sign in page.it's probably only occuring to those having sign in problems i have to sign in at the first page then when i go to my settings i'm asked to sign in again (afterwhich the site works normally), on that page at the bottom there's a "sign in anonymously" option. If the first sign in is working for a person i would have no idea on how to get the second sign in page to show up.
