FunkyTown Posted June 12, 2014 Report Posted June 12, 2014 Hey guys! While I haven't logged in for a while, I am really excited about a few things that are coming up. I'm a huge nerd, so bear that in mind: www.dwavesys.com This is the worlds' first quantum computer. It's 72000 times faster than the fastest supercomputer around today. It is not a binary computer. It's quinary. How does that work? I -haven't a clue-. But at that speed, it's not only faster than any other computer, it's faster than the combined computing process of every computer that has ever been(That is not also a quantum computer). And NASA is also working on this: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2655105/Engage-warp-drive-Nasa-reveals-latest-designs-Star-Trek-style-spacecraft-make-interstellar-travel-reality.html So... Currently, it takes 70000 years to get to Alpha Centauri using current technology. With this, they could get there in about 2 weeks. We now live in the future. HOORAY! Backroads 1 Quote
Bini Posted June 12, 2014 Report Posted June 12, 2014 Sounds mind blowing. Really, it does, for me because I'm not all that technologically savvy. Quote

Dravin Posted June 13, 2014 Report Posted June 13, 2014 Tablets are the future!! I've started watching TNG with Beefche, and it's funny the things they did that mesh with the reality of today. Of course sometimes I force things to fit, for instance whenever Data does his searching his own records thing where he cocks his head and is silent for a few moments I pretend he's doing a Google search via his built in WIFI.
