Crypto Posted June 25, 2014 Report Posted June 25, 2014 Temple marriages are not recognized by the state in Denmark. Couples who get a temple marriage also have to get a civil marriage to be recognized by the state. Since a temple marriage isn't recognized by Denmark, it is irrelevant to try and pressure the church to preform a temple marriage for a gay couple. (I used the word "state" with the same meaning as nation) Iggy 1 Quote
Blackmarch Posted June 25, 2014 Report Posted June 25, 2014 Many have said the church will never be forced to perform gay marriage in the temple. Theoretically, if I read this right, they could demand marriage in the Copenhagen temple under this law already. Gay Danish couples win right to marry in churchif worse comes to worst I imagine we'll go through something similar to when polygamy was outlawed. If something that is extremely important to were outlawed (or drastically changed) or forced on us legally I imagine that we'll end up on the breaking the law side. However I think that as long as there are enough members being rightious God will provide a way through the storm so that it will work out in the end. Not only does my opinion agree with you here, but it is my belief that it will undoubtedly come to this at some point. There will come a point where we will have to draw a line in the sand. The calamities and persecution coming are going to be intense. I think it's going to get pretty bad. But I also believe that God will provide a way through the storm. That doesn't mean the storm isn't going to carry a few off in it's twisters. And we'll all be cold and wet. Quote

Irishcolleen Posted June 25, 2014 Report Posted June 25, 2014 Our church added an article of faith to our articles of faith stating that we believe marriage is between one man and one woman, and listed the other requirements for marriage in the church (not unequally yoked between a non-believer and believer, no remarriage after divorce is former spouse is living). We felt that should protect the church if it came down to a court fight. Quote

The Folk Prophet Posted June 25, 2014 Author Report Posted June 25, 2014 What church is this? thank you I was wondering the same. Certainly the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has not added any Articles of Faith. Quote

The Folk Prophet Posted June 25, 2014 Author Report Posted June 25, 2014 I thought it was a reference to the proclamation of the family. Sort of seems that way...except the no remarriage after divorce is spouse is living thing... ???? Either way, not an LDS Article of Faith. Quote
