Guest Emma Hale Smith Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 I dont understand how you know that it would take a talespin if your not well versed though? That's a good question, Mike. I've not researched this on my own, but I've followed enough conversations to know there is no definitive proof that Native Americans reached the Americas across the ocean. I know there are people, including scholars in the church, who are working on the theory. But as far as I am aware, there is as yet no literal proof that is accepted by the entire archeological community. That is why I am suspicious when Mr. Keyser so casually claims he has "irrefutably proven" it. If he had, it would make a huge splash amongst professional and scholarly archeologists. It would also be in the textbooks and academic journals. It wouldn't be an obscure online article from a religious source.P.S. why sre the lds scholars always wrong?Mike, please read my post again. Two of the sources I gave you are from the Church. I am saying they are right, not wrong. They provide up-to-date information that should, for a believer such as yourself, also be faith-promoting. The third source is not from the Church, but is still worth reading.Your friend,Emma Quote
vinny15 Posted June 26, 2007 Author Report Posted June 26, 2007 I read it all. It was more of a retorical question because some have "proof" of it. I have no proof. Like I've said before. I dont want any or atleast I dont care. I gave you what I like to say compliments religion and science. The rest is up to the spirit. YOu have to look at what's happened in your life and see the hand of God. It shouldnt be proven. I did think I made an interesting argument thugh lol P.S. what about the birth dates? Quote
shanstress70 Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 Thanks guys. I have an obsession with science and the Gospel. One cannot come without the other. What I found interesting is that in the PoGP they new that kolob was huge and they new that because of mass time is shortened.Well they didnt know that they heard it from God. Unless they knew about special relativity around 1840 than it was impossible to be made up.I believe in the church fully, but if it want true than Joseph Smith was the smartest man since time bagan. That would mean smarter than Einstein. Wich he wasnt he had a 3rd grade education and grew up on a farm.According to his mother he didnt read much either.I love the Prophet If the Bom wasnt true he wouldve had to of known about the cement buildings in the north land, that the ancient olmecs practiced infant baptism, that they spoke of the return of a white bearded god that was crucified and from the birth and death of him on the mayan long calender matches the death and birth of christ.I dont think he was that smart (know offence joseph lol) I think he was a prophet. Some people argue that Joseph Smith used someone else's manuscript. Still others say that he got his info from various other books....Just in case you didn't know that these other arguments are out there. Quote
vinny15 Posted June 26, 2007 Author Report Posted June 26, 2007 Ya I've done my research. Still special relativity wasnt around in the 1800's Thankyou. Quote
MaidservantX Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 For what it's worth, any description of a pale skinned, blue eyed, and possibly even bearded person would hardly match up with a description of Yeshua of Nazareth. Pale skinned?? Blue eyed??? I don't think so. Quote
vinny15 Posted June 26, 2007 Author Report Posted June 26, 2007 Who is Yeshua. I think Im missing something? Quote
Guest Emma Hale Smith Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 I dont think he was that smart (know offence joseph lol) I think he was a prophet.Even though Joseph had very little formal education, he was a very intelligent boy, and it is my opinion he was a genius. He was an amazing man any way you look at it. Joseph was insistent that the Saints pursue their educations. In addition, he was fascinated by languages. John S. Tanner wrote: "In this effort to seek learning by study, Joseph himself led the way. I am frankly in awe of the Prophet’s assiduous efforts to pursue learning by study amidst all the persecutions and other demands on his time and energy. He studied many subjects but had a particular passion for languages. Entry after entry in his journal finds him studying Latin, Greek, German, and especially Hebrew. He was an avid participant in the Kirtland Hebrew School, which met in the west room of the third floor of the temple.12 On Feb. 17, 1836, Joseph exclaimed in his journal:My soul delights in reading the word of the Lord in the original, and I am determined to pursue the study of the languages, until I shall become master of them, if I am permitted to live long enough."The article is very good. It is from the Fall 2006 issue of BYU Magazine. One of the Great Lights of the WorldEmmaWho is Yeshua.I think Im missing something?I believe Yeshua is Jesus It was the name he used in Jerusalem. You biblical scholars, am I correct? If not, please let Vinny know!Emma Quote
CrimsonKairos Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 Both "Jesus" and "Joshua" are English translations of the Hebrew name "Yeshua." Quote

vinny15 Posted June 27, 2007 Author Report Posted June 27, 2007 I did the calculations myself.First we see that quetzolcoatl was born on 1 reed or 1 ben.http://mexicodesconocido.com/english/histo...&idpag=19471 reed and 1 ben are the same. Look here.http://www.jaguar-sun.com/calendr.htmlThe long count date of april, 6, 0 AD (christs birth) would be. 7.17.17.17.13 or 1 ben/reed 6makhttp://www.michielb.nl/maya/calendar.htmlCheck yourself using the converter. Or do the calculations yourself.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mesoamerican_..._Count_calendarSo we got the first part 1reed/1ben is the birth. Now if you fiddle with the calculations or the calculator than you will see that it only says 1ben/1reed when it is 0 AD and on the 6th of april. The mac will stay if you change the day itll just change the number around(1mac, 2 mac, 3mac, etc), but if anything else changes than the 1ben/1reed changes.Ok Im done lol Quote
evilservant Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 If any of you have ever taken planetary science in college, you may even know that the possibility that Kolob may not even be a part of our universe. To those that believe in the big bang, may understand that our universe may have been created just for us. Also that the elements of celestial living may be in another dimension or another universe altogether, which elements are supportive of a more permanant physical state.By the way, I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night!Thought you would have stayed in a Marriott? Maybe too expensive?? Doesn't Mr. M give you guys a deal? Well a friend and I did some interseting equations to figure out the mass of the ruling planet Kolob. Since a thousand years on earth is one day there than according to special relativity it has to have a much larger mass than earth and according to what Joseph smith has said on the subject.First we were reading that because of the mass of the sun as a year passes on earth a year minus 67 seconds passes on the sun. So we made a ratio of the masses to see how much mass it would take to change 67 seconds of a year and than we found how much it would take to shorten it by a second. Keep in mind this is only out of a year. The ratios were as follows.67 seconds out of a year extra mass needed to subtract 67 seconds67s/31,536,000s = 1/2,197,793,400,000,000,000,000,000,000,000kg1 second out of a year. extra mass (must be added to earth mass) needed to subtract a second1s/31,536,000s = 1/32,802,886,567,164,179,104,477,611,940kgNow we were looking for 1000 yrs to 1 daySo we multiplied the time ratios by 86400 seconds wich is a day in seconds. viable ratio(meaning we know the mass ratio to go along)1 day 86,400 years1s/2,724,710,400,000s change ratio to days by multiplying mass by 86400.1day/31536000day = 1/2,834,169,399,402,985,074,626,865,671,616,000Than the ratio for kolob in seconds would be:1day 1000 years86,400/31,536,000,000days1day/365000daysSubtract day ratios and multiply mass times the result then add to the mass of the earth to get the mass of kolob. The mass of kolob is1,034,471,830,782,090,212,238,805,970,149,000,000,000 kg compared to the mass of the earth wich is. 6600000000000000000000000.How many earths fit in kolob.about 157 trillion will fit.The diameter of kolob?about 200 sextillion km.So the earth compared to kolob is like a grain of sand on earth compared to the sun.Dont worry it confused me a bit to I love how Mormon theology evolves. When I was a young boy, Kolob was a recording company...now its a planet/star! Let me know when you decide. Maybe when you work out who God is you can work out where he lives....everlasting burnings??? B) Quote

Is it like the ensign?jklolNo, the magazine wasn't a Church mag or anything, it was just a monthly magazine that the family produced for it's fans...I collected it and other Osmonds' memorabilia till I was 16, then I gave away my collection to my best friend who was still following Donny around the UK whenever he visited, when I'd sort of grown out of the band! lol.The family saw it's musical career and success of it as their opportunity to do missionary work in the world, as they couldn't go out and do the 2 years usual missionary work that others did. I believe it was very successful and lots of girls have joined the LDS church after reading about it in their magazine.http://landofos.com/collectn/ow1.jpg Quote
