jerome1232 Posted September 11, 2014 Report Posted September 11, 2014 (edited) Today I took my two sons to Riverwalk park, it's a park we have here that has two lakes separated by a river. Due to the drought it's more like two slowly drying puddles separated by a dip in the land. We got into the slowly drying puddle and were splashing around, when suddenly a small... what looked to me a lobster, came up to my son Tyler, raised it's claws in the air and used it's little tail to flip dirt into the water partly obscuring it.We watched it walk around for awhile, it would do that thing if we ever got too close to it, had a lot of fun haha. When I got home curiosity got me so I looked it up, apparently it's a crayfish, I never knew what they were! So now I know, if you see a lobster roaming around a lake threatening to pinch people, it's a crayfish. Edited September 11, 2014 by jerome1232 Backroads 1 Quote
Backroads Posted September 11, 2014 Report Posted September 11, 2014 Now the next time I hear someone telling a similar story, I want to rudely interrupt them with a snooty phrasing of "It's actually a crayfish." jerome1232 1 Quote

If you get them from good water they taste just like lobster. Backroads 1 Quote

PolarVortex Posted September 11, 2014 Report Posted September 11, 2014 Why does this absurd creature have three English words, when some very useful concepts have no English words at all? In chess, there is a situation in which one player must move, but any move the player makes will be disadvantageous, whereas no disadvantage would appear if a move were not required. No word for this exists in English, but I am told that German-speaking persons call this a Zugzwang. I've had many dating relationships that were rich in Zugzwangs. Quote
jerome1232 Posted September 11, 2014 Author Report Posted September 11, 2014 Well English is already a hodgepodge of languages, so Zugzwangs it is, in English. Quote
pam Posted September 11, 2014 Report Posted September 11, 2014 I tried them for the first time within the last month. I took one bite and spit it out. I couldn't get past the texture. Nasty nasty. Just ask Classylady...she was with me when I tried it. :) jerome1232 1 Quote
Dr T Posted September 14, 2014 Report Posted September 14, 2014 Why aren't they called crawmoms? Quote
