a-train Posted July 3, 2007 Report Posted July 3, 2007 Don't forget to put all your thoughts in a journal! Congratulations! I can remember the first time I felt the Gift of the Holy Ghost. What a fantastic thing the gift of the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are! -a-train Quote
Holly3278 Posted July 3, 2007 Author Report Posted July 3, 2007 Don't forget to put all your thoughts in a journal! Congratulations! I can remember the first time I felt the Gift of the Holy Ghost. What a fantastic thing the gift of the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are!-a-trainI've already done that. I have a question though. If I quit going to church for a period of time, will someone like the bishop or somebody call me to check in? I am just wondering because that is one thing I would really like. I might get depressed or something and stop going and need someone to check in on me to see how things are going and make sure everything is okay. Quote
tbauro Posted July 3, 2007 Report Posted July 3, 2007 CONGRATURATION TO YOU: You don't have to worry, there are home teachers who can visit you at your home. Just give them your address and they come right to you. Quote
Traveler Posted July 3, 2007 Report Posted July 3, 2007 For those of you who are curious, I was baptized in the baptismal font at my local church. I tell you what, it feels so great to be baptized. I feel so new! Its really an amazing feeling!Thank you for your expressions. I am so impressed to have the opportunity to hear someone declare their covenant to be a Saint of G-d – a light to the world. Not so much by interpretation of fine points of doctrine but by living with love and compassion for others. Welcome to the house hold of G-d.The Traveler Quote

prisonchaplain Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 This string brings up an interesting observation that our LDS volunteer shared with me. He said that in Utah, wards are about 1/3rd converts, but that throughout the rest of the U.S. and overseas, the rate is about 2/3rds. I have noticed some posters sharing that they are converts. How does this play out in church life? Are converts given more instruction (since they are newer, and have not been born and immersed in the teachings)? Does such a status effect callings, etc.? Just curious. Quote
Dr T Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 Great questions PC. I'm interested in hearing the answers. Quote
FrankJL Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 Congrats!! I was baptized on a Sunday, and in my ward they usually do it after services on Sunday. Distance and getting to the ward seems to be the factor here too. Our ward covers most of our county, for me its a nearly 30mi drive there, one way. Quote
