What do you call the time an elder spends at a particular location? I know they get transferred from place to place, but don't know how to refer to one place.

So -

Elder Smith's mission was in Iowa. While on the mission, he was (stationed at? lived in? assigned to? did a tour of duty in? something else?) Des Moines and Ames.

The word is "served", as in.....

While on the mission, he served in Des Moines and Ames.

"served in or at" works well.
