Hi all 

 

This is my first time to try and use lds.net/forums in this way. I'm teaching about in Priesthood about grace tomorrow, using President Uchtdorf's Sunday morning conference address tomorrow. Can anyone point me to any good teachings/talks/sermons/book chapters on this topic? So far the one's I've looked at are:

Thanks for your input Skalenfehl and James. The lesson went as well as it could have in the 25 minutes I had available. Opening exercises went on longer than usual meaning that the lesson time was fairly compressed.

Glad your lesson went well.   For our opening exercises once our bishopric counselor wrote all the announcements on the board.    He kind of goes over them, but you don't get all the back and forth questions.   "What time does it start"   "Where is that at" 

 

We went to our Elders Quorum and hardly anybody was there, and no teacher.   We all discussed where everybody was at.  Then I looked at my watch and realized we were 8 mins earlier.    So now I push our counselor to write the announcements on the board each time.    Now it doesn't really help that half the time the Elders Quorum Pres goes over the same thing again.   Doh!

It sounds like a good idea in principal, but our bishopric members are often close to the last to arrive for opening exercises, and things would be even further delayed if we then had to wait longer while they wrote the announcements on the board.

OK...quick. His Grace is sufficient, as we cannot live perfect lives. As such, when I stand before God in the last day and passing by the Saviour (See 2 Nephi 9: 41) to gain access to the Father...all I care about is; Grace and not Justice", which Christ will be able to do will all love and wisdom. I cannot know every sin I might have committed, and this is why Grace, and Love will be my Salvation.

For what it's worth, I tend to disagree with some (just a few) of Brother Wilcox's views in this speech. Of course that isn't really on topic. But for what it's worth.

 

Primarily the "Get me outta here!" thing. It's just not that simple. People are not cartoon caricatures.

There are a few parts of it that don't quite ring true with me either, but I haven't taken the time to nail down my questions. I still think its a really helpful talk and I made several references to it in my lesson. My dad thinks it contains some doctrinal inadequacies but I haven't asked him what they are. My daughter loves the talk and says it has helped her a great deal.
