Dr T Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 Hello all, My family and I went camping Thurday night to Sunday night and upon our return found that Sassy (my children's and wife's cat) was missing. My wife became distressed right away. I told her, "Give it some time." and "She's not missing yet." I'm sure the hunt will be on today. Just wanted to let you all know. Quote

Dr T Posted August 13, 2007 Author Report Posted August 13, 2007 Thanks Push. === Berry, "Maybe" she went to find them (the rest of my family)-not my cat. My wife is really sad though. The kids didn't know yet. By now, I'm sure they know. I'll go home at lunch and see what they have to say about it. Quote
susieSA Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 Awwww Dr T I hope she comes home soon... Quote
Maureen Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 Did you have someone watching your wife's cat while you were gone? M. Quote
Dr T Posted August 13, 2007 Author Report Posted August 13, 2007 Good question M. Feeding their cat was more like it-not watching. The person feeding her never saw her but refilled the food dish daily. I think the other cats ate her food and scared her away. No sight of her yet. My wife is taking it harder than I thought she would. She must have been really attached. Quote
Guest Yediyd Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 OK, T...fess up!!! Whadja do with the cat? Quote

Dr T Posted August 13, 2007 Author Report Posted August 13, 2007 hahahahaha Yed. I had nothing to do with it. I was out of town. I have an alibi. === We went out of town a couple of weeks ago and when we returned there were about 5 cats sitting in our back yard. The food had been eaten and Sassy was out under my car. We kicked those other cats out and Sassy came back in. There has been one of those cats that keeps coming around and run off when chased away. I'm wondering if those cats scared Sassy away. The kids will probably go to the neighbors and ask if they've seen her. My wife is taking it hard. That makes me the saddest. Quote
Alaskagain Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 If it's any comfort, cats have a way of just showing back up one day. They remember where the food is. (Keep a water pistol handy for shooing away those other cats. ) Might check out the neighborhood to see if someone else has started feeding a new cat. I will help look. . .. heere kitty kitty. . .. Dr T Posted August 13, 2007 Author Report Posted August 13, 2007 Thanks for helping look Alaskagain :) === Gabelma, One of my boys might want to take you up on that offer. Might just tuck that information in the back of my mind. Thank you for that. Quote
Iggy Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 apparently if you pee in yourbackyard its supposed to keep them away DrT, we used myhusbands urine when our cat was being troubled it worked a treat CharleyThat really works. I did it (collected my own), dispensed it along the boarder of my 5 acres! Did it weekly for several months, along with my dog - she would leave her mark next to mine!Instead of a water pistol use a squirt bottle with straight ammonia in it. Mark the bottle well so you know it is ammonia and do NOT use it around bleach. The ammonia will really repel them and keep them away. It is the equivalent of a cat spraying them. Mark your territory! If you don't become the Alpha, you will be ignored and delegated to the lowest rank in the pecking order. In this household, I am the Alpha. They were my cats to begin with. I have made my husband the second in command as far as the cats are concerned. Now when it comes to husband and myself in our own lives we are co-Alpha's . Quote
Marsha Posted August 14, 2007 Report Posted August 14, 2007 Dr T, Do you have any pictures of Sassy? Maybe print some out and have kids and wife put them in the neighborhood? Also call the animal shelter and see if someone picked her up? I had a cat named sassy, a calico. Precious she was. Good luck in her return. Marsha Quote
Dr T Posted August 14, 2007 Author Report Posted August 14, 2007 Thank you Marsha. Called the pound-nothing. Kids will talk to the neighbors tonight. Quote
bunnzy Posted August 14, 2007 Report Posted August 14, 2007 how long has she been gone for now?? I hope she comes back soon. I know what its like losing a beloved family pet. It is like losing a baby, a member of the family. Quote
Dr T Posted August 14, 2007 Author Report Posted August 14, 2007 Thanks Bunnzy. We were gone for four days. I don't know when she left. While were were going house to house, we found a skunks home though. Were were looking for a white cat with black spots not a black one with white stripes Quote

Marsha Posted August 14, 2007 Report Posted August 14, 2007 Dr T, I had a pet skunk once. Descented of course. Better than any cat I have ever had. Marsha Quote
