Well, well, well! I am from that same clan. No wonder I have a hankering to start a farm. There is a pasture with sheep right around the corner from me. Hmmm ( taps chin).  A crest with a man looking at his armipit?? I never even noticed that. Depends on which depiction you favor. You must like this one:  crest2.png.05196c20fa0b89897e3b20534140c

We did have a castle caretaker, too. And after the converts came to America, they spun off Robert LeRoy Parker, AKA  Butch Cassidy. We also had a songwriter and choir director and a young man who jumped off DIXIE rock in St. George, Utah ( and survived, but barely.)  He became a physician. So it just took several dozen generations to rise to that level of accomplishment in life.

Nice to meet you co ogha!

How cool is that! Right at ya cousin!

Related to jacob hamblin, to the guy who convinced the judge not to hang brigham young, and related to Gunlock.

Have ancestry of scottish, norwegian, and finnish lines.

Hey, Blackmarch, we probably are related.  I'm also related to Jacob Hamblin.  Have you ever had the chance to tour the Jacob Hamblin home in Santa Clara, UT?  It's been awhile since I've gone through it, but I remember enjoying it.

I'm related to Jacob Hamblin myself.  Also to Isaac Riddle who discovered the area now known as Pine Valley in So. Utah.

Last year I toured the Jacob Hamblin home.  I really enjoyed it.

This is the life sketch of my 4th great grandfather:

Newman Greenleaf Blodgett

On the 18th of September of 1800, Newman Greenleaf Blodgett was born in Chelsea, Orange County, Vermont. He was the son of Benjamin Blodgett and Polly Greenleaf.

Newman met and married Sally Smith Utley on November 11, 1824. He and Sally were some of the first members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They migrated to Nauvoo to follow the Prophet Joseph Smith’s plans for Zion, where Sally died following childbirth, and the baby died 15 days later.

Newman was left with five children to raise, and he married Elizabeth Garnett Reid a year after Sally’s death.

Newman was a carpenter and bridge-builder, and was very skilled at both of these professions. He and Elizabeth traveled west with the Saints to settle the Valley of the Great Salt Lake, and eventually decided to live in North Ogden. They were one of the first families to make North Ogden their permanent home. With the help of his son-in-law, James Barker, Newman built the first flour mill in North Ogden, so that the people who lived there did not have to take their grains all the way to Ogden to have it milled.

Newman was honest and thrifty to the last detail, and he would even cut their woven, purchased cloth, to make sure that not an inch was wasted.

Newman died at the ripe old age of 82, on August 24, 1882. He is buried in the North Ogden, Ben Lomond Cemetery.

I have a lot of ancestors who were involved in the Salem Witch Trials. Either as one accused or as one judging.

I've been called a witch before but......

I have an ancestor who was on the fringe of that trial.

:) Jacob hamblin is a uber-great uncle.

that's where I spent the first 8 years of my life ^.^ loved that area.. kinda breaks my heart to go there now as all the desert has been bulldozed and turned into urban area. altho the santa clara neighborhood is still pretty. Used to fish Crawdads pretty near the Jacob hamblin home.

Lehi

Given your politics Lehi I could have sworn you were related to Clement Atlee, Ralph Nader, and George McGovern.
