Guest Posted July 13, 2016 Report Posted July 13, 2016 Do you believe our beloved pets will be part of our eternal families in heaven? I have no doubt whatsoever in my mind that I'll be with my pets for eternity. I prayed about it deeply in the temple and got a good confirmation. What are your opinions for those of you who had loving pets in your life? Quote

Guest MormonGator Posted July 13, 2016 Report Posted July 13, 2016 Yes, for sure. I can't imagine heaven without the companionship of the wonderful dogs I've had. Quote

NightSG Posted July 13, 2016 Report Posted July 13, 2016 Well, with all those cats, I should be able to attract - or at least equip - some single women. Sunday21 1 Quote
Guest Posted July 13, 2016 Report Posted July 13, 2016 D&C 132 verse 19 promises that those who are exalted receive thrones, kingdoms, powers, dominions, and principalities but I'd give all that up just to be with my pets again if I had to. Our loved ones should be more important to us than power. Quote
carlimac Posted July 14, 2016 Report Posted July 14, 2016 (edited) I'm OK with it as long as they don't shed in the next life. And their bad breath is extinguished! Edited July 14, 2016 by carlimac Quote

Traveler Posted July 14, 2016 Report Posted July 14, 2016 I have no doubt that we will have contact with various species of creatures – but please do not degrade the sacred covenants of family with creatures over which we have “dominion” stewardship. We are not sealed to pets. As a child I was close to loved and cherished a very favored pet. I have often wished and even prayed to meet again in the next life my beloved pet – but she was never really mine but a creature created by and belonging to G-d. We are not owners of creatures – they are not ours – we are their stewards and will answer for our stewardship to their rightful owner. The Traveler mordorbund 1 Quote

The Traveler The reason we don't make sacred Covenants with our pets is because they're already completely innocent, but they win over our hearts and that's important to God. Why didn't you spell out God in your post? Quote

I would draw attention to D&C 132:7 Quote And verily I say unto you, that the conditions of this law are these: All covenants, contracts, bonds, obligations, oaths, vows, performances, connections, associations, or expectations, that are not made and entered into and sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise, of him who is anointed, both as well for time and for all eternity, and that too most holy, by revelation and commandment through the medium of mine anointed, whom I have appointed on the earth to hold this power (and I have appointed unto my servant Joseph to hold this power in the last days, and there is never but one on the earth at a time on whom this power and the keys of this priesthood are conferred), are of no efficacy, virtue, or force in and after the resurrection from the dead; for all contracts that are not made unto this end have an end when men are dead. Quote Why didn't you spell out God in your post? The reason is personal which has to do with my personal covenant in posting on the internet and for those of various faiths that are forbidden to reference or copy text (outside of scripture). I also find it interesting that anciently - even in scripture - careful and measured efforts were made in making any reference to the sacred name or title of our divine creator. Thanks for asking The Traveler SilentOne and mordorbund 2 Quote
