R rated movies and M rated video games

I'm about to sell the last of my R rated movies and have 3 M rated video games left too. Should I sell them as well since an M rated game is the equivalent of an R rated movie and they have blood and nudity. The games are Mass Effect 3 which has a sex scene that you work for to happen and lots of blood, and God of War 3, and God of War Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta double disc which has loads and loads and loads of blood, guts, intestines, and nudity and sex, including having sex with up to 12 women at once off camera to gain orbs for weapons. We are told to rid ourselved of R rated movies and Mature rated video games correct? I haven't found where it's been said but I'm sure it is. The 2 movies are Deadpool and Aqua Teen Hunder Force.

I agree with the above posters - you are better off without the stuff!  This goes triple any time sexually explicit content is involved - you just don't want to mess with that kind of thing, because it does have consequences and will drive out the spirit (and can possibly be a step into addiction to immorality).

I find it very sad that we now have to be careful around video games.  As a teen in the mid 1990s, about the worst video game you could obtain was stuff like Doom - very, very tame by today's standards, where sexually explicit content was positively out of the question.  I find it very disturbing that pornography has been making inroads into video games, and there are actually video games these days with content so bad they can land you in the bishop's office.  It's like a part of my childhood is dying...

I had a conversation with a friend of mine a while back dealing with ratings in movies and games. He was heckling me a little bit after I told him I didn't watch 'R' movies. I explained to him that it had nothing to do with the rating and everything to do with the content. I would never watch and 'R' movie and there are countless 'PG-13' movies I would never watch. same with M games. There are a few I'm comfortable playing but the majority I stay away from. Try making your decision on whether to keep it or not on the content and not the rating, if you focus on the rating, a LOT of justification can be made.

Do the world a favor and trash them.

I'm leaning towards this way of just trashing them because they wouldn't give me much anyway at gamestop and fye and someone else would buy it and be exposed to it too. I will take your advice and trash them right now!

I know what you mean. My patriarchal blessing specifically speaks about being against having such things and following the gospel to the minute doctrine.

Now I'm sticking with ganes that are rated T or lower and movies rated PG-13 or lower but I am also reading more LDS books from good sources, and I'm avoiding anti mormon sites and message boards like the plague. I often would view them to see what people on the other side are saying but find i'm happiest when I'm fully in the boat of the good ship Zion and holding strong to the iron rod and paying no attention to those in the great and spacious building. And I will promise I will not be shamed if I'm mocked for eating the delicious fruit Lehi describes. ALso, I love my new LDS psychologist who's in a Bishopric.

If I may give some advice, junking unworthy media can be easier if you replace it with something that is more worthy.  Perhaps to celebrate getting rid of the questionable games, next time you have some spare cash you should go buy a game that you have wanted that is rated E or T?  It can take some of the blow out of having to part ways with media you like that is unworthy.

Back when I was 18, I discovered Johnny Cash in this manner (who I still listen to today) after deciding to part ways with a Coolio CD (don't judge, I was only 18!)

You know, I've heard if you bleep out all the profanity in both Boondock Saints movies, it will give the exact date and time of Christ's return in Morse code.

Thanks man! I'm trying to do what's right and be obedient to the commandments and leaders in hopes of being clean.
