I missed that fact. My mama always told me... Santa slapped Arius (as opposed to punching him) which she uses to justify slapping errant kids. Hah! No, actually, my mama did not tell me that... I told my kids that. Quote

As I'm sure you noticed I use the word "fact" in the loosest sense (that is to say, with the "not actually a fact" definition). Quote

Oh yeah, sorry... I shoulda put a smiley after "I missed that fact". Comedy fail. See, that's why I always bow down to the masters of wit. They never mess up the punch line. Or was it slap line? Ugh. That was lame. Edited January 4, 2017 by anatess2 Quote
prisonchaplain Posted January 4, 2017 Report Posted January 4, 2017 In answer to the OP: No. Clarification. No! No! A 1,000 times no! The idea that "lying" to our kids about Santa, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, etc. will cause them to doubt God, faith, adult authority, etc. is psychobabble. THE REAL QUESTION: With this election demonstrating that political correctness is philosophically bankrupt, will we finally be able to allow our children to have childhoods? Quote

Of course not. Have you ever been to a Mommy group? According to the groups I've been to, my kids would have been dead by now the way I was raising them... Edited January 4, 2017 by anatess2 Quote

It's proof that someone with too much time on their hands can create correlations out of the blue and make them sound good. Edited January 4, 2017 by MormonGator Quote

The rather substantial school nurse overheard me (teachers ate with kids in the lunch room at this school) and asked, "What are you teaching those kids???" They laughed before I did. Quote

SpiritDragon Posted January 5, 2017 Report Posted January 5, 2017 I doubt that any atheists are created by having their faith in Santa shattered. My concern is whether lying to children about "fun" things erodes trust between parent and child when discussing other things? Colirio 1 Quote
