CornHead Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 Hi. I have schizoaffective disorder (a combination of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder) and I find it very hard to sit through sacrament meeting because of my anxiety and that I can't sit still for that long yet alone all three hours of church so my mom takes me home after sacrament meeting. I had a limited access temple recommend given to me by my old bishop but it expired and now we have a new bishop who insists on me going to and sitting through all meetings in order to renew my recommend. I really want to go to the temple again. Does anyone have suggestions on ways I can improve my attendance to the other two meetings and get a temple recommend? Thanks in advance. Quote
Jane_Doe Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 Hi @CornHead and welcome to the forum! I'm obviously not you and don't know the specifics of your situation, so my reply here is just going to address a bunch of situations and you can take those which apply to you. Are you receiving treatment for you schizoaffective disorder? If no, I would advise doing so-- counseling is amazing in how much is can change your life (I say that first hand). If yes, your counselor would be a great person to talk to about this. Are you unable to sit still for 3 hours for any meeting, or is something specific to church? If you can't sit still for anything I would highly recommend treatment for improving church, school, work, etc. You said your issue is physically sitting still. Have you tried getting up and moving around? Like possibly sitting in the back of the chapel to pace, or exiting for a few minutes to walk around or do jumping jacks? You could do the same for classes. Backroads, zil and a mustard seed 3 Quote
