Anddenex Posted July 19, 2022 Report Posted July 19, 2022 I'm unsure how this will play out in the US, but with more Socialists and Leftist ideologies and philosophies I wouldn't be surprised that we will start seeing this soon in the US either. Grunt 1 Quote
Emmanuel Goldstein Posted July 20, 2022 Report Posted July 20, 2022 This scripture is yet to be fulfilled and I fear that it will happen in our lives soon: Quote D&C 87 4 And it shall come to pass, after many days, slaves (the general population) shall rise up against their masters (the elite, in charge of our civilization), who shall be marshaled and disciplined for war. 5 And it shall come to pass also that the remnants who are left of the land (the children of Lehi) will marshal themselves, and shall become exceedingly angry, and shall vex the Gentiles (American Nations) with a sore vexation. 6 And thus, with the sword and by bloodshed the inhabitants of the earth shall mourn; and with famine, and plague, and earthquake, and the thunder of heaven, and the fierce and vivid lightning also, shall the inhabitants of the earth be made to feel the wrath, and indignation, and chastening hand of an Almighty God, until the consumption decreed hath made a full fend of all nations; We need to repent as a church and as saints so that we are protected by the hand of God. Otherwise we will be swept away with the general destruction too. Quote

Many LDS already struggle with being way too hard on themselves. 80% of LDS would give you the shirt off their back if you were in need. Most are polite, decent, neighborly. What do they need to repent for? Quote

It all depends on the judges. The Senate Majority is much more important than we give credit. And the SCOTUS majority is about a lot more than who's sleeping with whom. It's about protecting Constitutional rights. We're now seeing, first hand, why the Law of Chastity is so important. But, hey, "what two consenting adults agree to is no one's business, but their own... We just expect you to put us on a pedestal and give up your rights to freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, due process, and... uhm... not that it's related... just give up your right to bear arms as well." What do they need to repent for? I really feel that there is a problem in the members with judging and ostracizing people that are in real need of their faith being strengthened. We tend to be unwelcoming, speaking collectively and not individually. We need to be more Christlike if we hope to have Him with us as a church. The last time I checked, we are still under condemnation from the Lord stated in D&C 84: 54-57. Quote 54 And your minds in times past have been darkened because of unbelief, and because you have treated lightly the things you have received— 55 Which vanity and unbelief have brought the whole church under condemnation. 56 And this condemnation resteth upon the children of Zion, even all. 57 And they shall remain under this condemnation until they repent and remember the new covenant, even the Book of Mormon and the former commandments which I have given them, not only to say, but to do according to that which I have written— These are just two that come to mind off the cuff. We need to be careful to not fail in our covenants or we are in trouble. Quote 3 Nephi 21: 20 For it shall come to pass, saith the Father, that at that day whosoever will not repent and come unto my Beloved Son, them will I cut off from among my people, O house of Israel; 21 And I will execute vengeance and fury upon them, even as upon the heathen, such as they have not heard. 22 But if they will repent and hearken unto my words, and harden not their hearts, I will establish my church among them, and they shall come in unto the covenant and be numbered among this the remnant of Jacob, unto whom I have given this land for their inheritance; LDSGator 1 Quote

Sure, those people absolutely exist in the church. It’s more their problem the ours though. That kind of attitude you are describing is more self destructive than anything else. The other thing is that those you describe often think they have far more power and influence then they think they do. But I truly, truly believe that the overwhelming majority of people in the church are not like the ones you are describing. Edited July 20, 2022 by LDSGator Quote
Emmanuel Goldstein Posted July 20, 2022 Report Posted July 20, 2022 I just read this in my daily reading: Quote Matthew 24 36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. 37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, 39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. We should always reach out to those the Lord puts in our way. Quote

Most wards have a bunch of people who genuinely want to help you. You don’t need to be someone’s home teacher in order to just be their friend. Emmanuel Goldstein 1 Quote

Yep, agreed...thus I'm interested to see if a similar thing will happen in the US, and how quickly it will go to the supreme courts. It should never be even a charge in the first place, but we will see. Quote
