Snow Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 I've got tickets to see Paul at the Wiltern in Los Angeles in March. Bam! Nessun Dorma!!! Quote
Dr T Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 That sounds great Snow. Enjoy! He really turned my interest in opera around. Quote
a-train Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 Ah, very good. He is a singer. I was worried for a minute that the Cambodian communist had been discovered alive and was on tour. Kinda like Elvis, you know? -a-train Quote
Elphaba Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 I've got tickets to see Paul at the Wiltern in Los Angeles in March.Bam! Nessun Dorma!!!Since I am the one who turned you on to Paul in the first place, I think I deserve something special for making your night with Paul possible.Seriously, if it weren't for me, you would probably be going to the Wiltern to see some mediocre soloist such as Andrea Bocelli, or Diana Krall, or even that sabre rattler Toby Keith. (I know you like those swaggering cowboy types who wear their snakeskin boots made special to scare our enemies with a cocky "I'm gonna mow your grass!")Now I am not so uncouth as to be unaware that an invite is too presumptuous. Plus, I don't like you that much and I know the feeling is mutual, so no obligatory "would you like to join us" is necessary. However, I have come up with exactly the item that would make my heart sing, and only you can make it happen. For my part in making your night of magic possible, I would like a picture of you and Paul Potts together, signed by Paul, and made out to "Elphaba, of superior intellect to Snow." Remember, if it weren't for me, you would be watching Yanni at the Wiltern. And oh, by the way: BAM! Caruso!Elphaba Quote
Elgama Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 guess I am alone in wondering why he is so great lol (yes he has a great voice but he stands there like a good piece of pork on a meat hook) enjoy yourself Snow. -Charley Quote
Canuck Mormon Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 I guess I'm uncouth. I have NO idea who they are talking about. Quote
Alaskagain Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 Well, then, Canuck, you simply have to go back to the You-Tube thread where Elphaba introduced us all:http://www.lds.net/forums/general-discussion/8231-announcing-you-tube-thread-4.html#post112754Grab a hanky, I use one every time I see the first performance! Snow Posted February 10, 2008 Author Report Posted February 10, 2008 That sounds great Snow. Enjoy! He really turned my interest in opera around.I'd been listening to a little Maria Callas but Paul Potts really got me interested. Since I heard him the first time I've been to two operas and looking forward to more.I find it very relaxing - my wife says that for me it's a very expensive nap, Quote

I suspect I won't see him up close and personal... good tickets were being hawked for $300 - 400. I settled for $38 seats which are probably towards the upper back. Quote
WillowTheWhisp Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 I remember seeing him when he first entered the auditions for the TV competition - was it X Factor? We watch all those kind of things. I thought his voice was wonderful. Then when he won the newspapers here pulled him to shreds and one even said that he was mentally disabled. It's brilliant that he is doing so well now. He really deserves it to be able to bring so much pleasure to people through his singing. Quote
