Tr2 Posted June 6, 2004 Report Posted June 6, 2004 You don't see the world as a group of people believing in making and spending money on non essentials while the poor go begging and hungry? That defines most church's in existance too, including LDS. Now we're calling it a "church"?You don't see the world as a group of people believing they come first....and everyone else second? Why did you join the mormon church? I'll tell you. You joined it so you could get something out of it, just like every other person who has ever joined any church in the history of mankind. You come first in your life. I see many people feed the hungry and give money to the poor, in talking with them for 5 minutes I can tell that it was so they could receive some kind of reward. Whether it be feeling good about themselves or getting a pat on the back. You are no exception. That is the world religion...not everyone participates in this world group.....but it definitely exists...and thrives...even if it is inclosets....and secret places.......O...................................k.I think you are very odd and there is a significant portion of your intelligence that you are not using. If you were to tap into it you would see how stupid you really sound. Quote

You joined it so you could get something out of it, just like every other person who has ever joined any church in the history of mankind. You come first in your life. And now you are playing God who can look into the hearts of others and tell what they feel? You tell ME why I joined the church Tri, I would like to know what you see, I am curious as to the answer Starsky~ There is no doubt in my mind that Rodney/Harv gains something from this board. Maybe that is why he is here....there is a purpose for everything, even if we can't comprehend it all. He makes me smile on days that are dreary, therefore serving a purpose. What....you are very savy....! And female, and trusting, and...and.....and I am still being tested for reasons I don't know. Quote

Because you wanted to get something out of it. In your own words, tell me why you joined the mormon church. And be honest.I'll tell you why I accepted Christ in my life. I saw something in the lives of believers, that i knew, that I wanted for myself. I didn't join for another person, or for God's sake. I wanted peace for myself. I wanted to be a better person. I joined my church for MY sake. And nobody else around here is any different, they just act like it is. Quote

OK Tri I will have to use some of your post....not that I am copying you, but the same thing applied to my joining the church.......and you gave a beautiful insight as to who you really are and what you stand for...... I joined the LDS church because I found answers that I have been looking for, for most of my life. I joined many years after I had accepted Christ as number one in my life, and many years of searching for the truths I was looking for while attending other churchs. I wanted/needed peace in my life, the kind of peace that I saw in the lives of those that believed in the LDS church....I wanted to know what it was that gave them that peace, along with the love and joy in their lives. I found out. I joined the church for MY sake Tri...and for the sake of my children....I have lost a lot in the wake of my choices... but I still have that peace I found of who I am, who and what I stand for and where I am going after this life. That's me being honest with you. Quote
Faerie Posted June 7, 2004 Report Posted June 7, 2004 rodney and tr2: in 2 sentences or less please tell me WHY you are so hateful towards the LDS church and its members. Your posts show nothing but contempt and disrespect and i am having the most awful time trying to figure out why on earth you bother posting on this board? if you two disappeared, this board would excel and grow beyond imagination. you do nothing but tear it and my beliefs down and frankly, i tire of reading your tirades. so really, why ARE you here? Setheus Posted June 7, 2004 Report Posted June 7, 2004 They are here because they crave attention and need a purpose to live. Tr either failed out or didn't qualify for BUD/s and Rodney was rejected from Clown U. Now, before you two come back and post why I come here I'll just tell you. I come here to hear the ideas and thoughts of others. I enjoy reading discussions and topics that would never have occured to me otherwise. Sometimes I like to come here and take jabs at what people reply and thats ok because I don't take it so far as to hurt or belittle or judge. Ok so mabey I judge a little. B) Sometimes the reason I come here is meaningless. But remember this, this board without me would be even more unbearable. Quote

Guest jackvance88 Posted June 7, 2004 Report Posted June 7, 2004 so the catholic church is the G&AC hey. how exactly does that fit with all that preaching by the pope against abortion, same-sex marriage and contraception? the catholic church has been one of the LDS church's staunchest allies in its crusade against anti-family values. surely the G&AC, the other church so to speak, is Satan's own church. he's meant to be smart and cunning right? so he's not gonna have a denomination with buildings and signs on it and so on. rather it's pervasive and invisible, like a virus, and recruits followers from all walks of life. The ways of satan are not so obvious that he will create a church with himself as the head.He will create a church that is soooo close to the true church but with all the doctrines subtly altered, that it would be hard to know which is true or which is false. OR, he will infiltrate a church that started off as the true church, and gradually, over time, change the doctrines so they are no longer recognizable as what it started off as, thereby cheating all those souls who put their trust in that church. Faerie Posted June 8, 2004 Report Posted June 8, 2004 Jenda, course anyone can apply what you just wrote to the LDS church as Tr2 has so obviously attempted to do so... I don't think this subject is so pertinent to our salvation that we have to know the answers right now..just my 2 cents Quote

The full Book of Enoch - a part of which is quoted in the Book of Jude verses 14-162. The Dead Sea Scroll (4Q246) titled “The Son of God”3. 49 Hebrew words missing between the last verse of Chapter 10 and the first verse of chapter 11 of 1 Samuel.4. Text Changes in Isaiah 38:115. The Gentile prophet of the Last Days as described in the Testaments of the Patriarchs."Most of this was accomplished by 100 AD and there really was not a Catholic Church at that time."Yes there was a Catholic Church. It was founded by this dude from Nazareth....Sorry I missed the scripture where Jesus ordained a “Pope”, or “Cardinals”. Apostles I can find but not the structure or organization of the Catholic Church as it appears today. "Recent finds in Caesarea indicate that by 75 AD scriptures were being systematically altered."Source please? - Tom Newman - retired archeological chair Harvard University"We know through the Dead Sea Scriptures that the pure parts of the scriptures were still in tact (Old Testament) up to about 73 - 74 AD."Don't you mean Dead Sea Scrolls? - No I mean the Dead Sea Scriptures. Among the Scrolls that were discovered are scriptures - All of the Old Testament except for one book. Do you not consider the Old Testament Scripture? These documents are the most accurate text found to date - I believe they should be recognized as sacred."There should be some overlap as scriptures were hidden up to be preserved. As a matter of fact, I believe there are several relevant scriptures found among the DSS that give understanding.
