WHOOOOOSH!!"

dood, is it really possible that you think that when I said, "try the spellcheck", that I was referring to Snow's misspelling of my nick? And that you actually think that he spelled "gratuitous" and "ideology" correctly?

watch as Faerie's entire educational experience goes right over his head, whooosh...

Oh my gosh!

In the first place, 'mebbe' is really spelled 'maybe'. 'Dood' is spelled 'dude'.

And Snow didn't misspell your nickname. He was changing one letter of your name ('a' to a 'k') to call your 'punkboy' instead of 'punaboy', because he thinks you're a punk!

(And I don't think he's far off!)

That's great! I think Hinckley is a great guy - just not a prophet. I'm sure Estee Lauder is great too (where would this world be without makeup?). And I just can't get enough of that Doris Day!

The point I'm TRYING to make is that it's really not that big a deal, IMO.

It is the nation's highest civilian honor. So if you don't think highly of the nation, then for you it would be no big deal. My guess is that most people have no idea what kind of exceptional and meritorious service the winners have given the nation. They look at a name and say, Oh, an actor, or Hm, a make-up CEO....

In reality, it is a very big deal and quite an honor.

"The Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian award, recognizes exceptional meritorious service. The medal was established by President Truman in 1945 to recognize notable service in the war. In 1963, President Kennedy reintroduced it as an honor for distinguished civilian service in peacetime."

Anything to feel like a publicly recognized sect.

Well if you want the world to come hear your message...it does't hurt to be publically recognized....

Let me assure you that I love my country very much.

That doesn't mean that I have to agree with who gets the award. I guess you're right... I'm not sure what kinds of things Estee Lauder and Doris Day have done for the country. Care to enlighten me?

some of you folks have no sense of irony. my comments about Snow's spelling (and need for spellcheck) referred to HIS comments to Winnie about her spelling and grammar, in her current thread. I mean, if you are going to criticize others for their spelling, mebbe you ought to spell correctly yourself? Snow has been cutting down Winnie for years for this. Personally, I don't care that much about spelling, having mastered it in my youth, but I recognize that many people have trouble with it (and that's ok), and also that a bbs isn't a formal paper.

And sorry Faerie, for not recognizing your gender, but really, I have never read one of your posts that ID'd your gender...

Still, you didn't see Snow's mispellings? that's pretty funny, and pray tell, WHAT exactly did I miss in his post?

It really doesn't take much to make enemies on this board, btw...

punaboy - So you don't think Faerie's username or her signature gave you even a little clue?

"I think it's interesting how the public affairs people refer to the Pope as "Holy Father" and "His Holiness". (Ray)

Well, the office of the Pope has been around for 1800+ years. It's the oldest official office on earth. I think there's a reason why, don't you?

"I wonder what we'd have to do to get them to refer to President Hinkley with a similar amount of respect?"

Wait for another 1600 years and see if the LDS church is still around?

"Ya think maybe we should start a petition? Ya, me neither. But I do think he deserves it." (Ray)

No doubt he's overall a good man.

"I would be uncomfortable referring to Pres. Hinckley (or any other prophet of God for that matter) as "holy father" or "his holiness". The title suggests some sort of demi-god status, something which the prophets don't claim to have." (johndoe)

Why do you think that? The title to most people (catholic and non-catholic alike) signifies that he's respected for his goodness. Certainly not a demi-god. Whereas your LDS prophets do claim to be god's in embryo! ;)

"I'd just settle for having the world refer to him as "prophet, seer, and revelator".

I think he'd have to demonstrate that he deserves that title first.

Well first we need to get Emperor Bush to declare it the state religion and then we need to start forcing people to join under threat of death, then we need to murder the heretics and then launch wars against pagan Canada... oh never mind.

yeh sorry Faerie, and Maureen (and anyone else who thinks Faerie's gender and my not knowing it is a big deal), I never made the gender connection, or noticed your signature might refer to pregnancy, I actually don't think about pregnancy all that much. And I have read widely about Faeries, so I know that faeries comes in male and female genders, and in fact, shees very often have faerie kings, as well as queens ala Spencer. But I shall remember that you are indeed female, and that you are indeed pregnant!

So then, good Queen of Faeries, what is it in Snow's post that you think I missed?

tsk, tsk, tsk,

No one cares if someone isn't a good speller. Winnie's problem is that she is an atrocious speller, with terrible grammar, awful punctucation, faulty syntax and incomplete of incoherent sentences. She posts on a public MB and instead of showing a little courtesy to proof her post, she acts like it's the fault of the reader. She claims (I think - it is hard to understand her point) that she writes like she talks. I doubt that. She tells us that he has an important job(s). If so, she obviously doesn't talk like she writes. The only time it bugs me is when she starts to act supercillious and superior,

... and who are you to know what I have been doing for years? What is your real name, not the name you are hiding behind now?

Hide behind another name if you want Punaboy. Even Trident had the courage to admit that he was posting under another name - once he got caught - even me

(I just busted Doug again last week)

being charitable, I will take your failure to respond to my requests for a clarification of your above unsupporable statement as an apology, which I accept. :P

Now that's about a big an example of desperation as I've ever seen. You apologize to yourself on behalf of someone else and then you make a point of telling others that you accept your own apology.

Why do you think that it would bother antis[/b...

Because anyone who is "Anti" anything get upset when the thing they despise is recognized as a great thing. And the Prophet represents all that is rightious and THAT alone will stir up the enemy to harden the hearts of men.

ALL that is righteous? ALL????????

heh

And how do Estee Lauder and Doris Day merit this recognition? Or Arnold Palmer? Pray tell what THEY really did that is so meritorious? Eh? Well, Maybe Estee, due to her charities is admirable, but an actress and a golfer? Eh? Cuz they "entertained" us? Huh?
