ztodd Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 By the way, this...Speaking of the Lamenites and Nephites it was proven that all modern day Native Americans have DNA shared with Asian populations. No DNA from Israel.is not true anymore. A new haplotype X group has been found among the native americans that was found in Europe and the middle east (including Israel) and not found in Asia. Check out Does DNA Evidence Refute the Book of Mormon? Where is the Lamanite DNA?? Does DNA Offer Proof? and BookofMormonEvidence.org and buy their DVD if you're interested in that. There are many other issues to look at regarding the DNA issue if you feel so inclined. But I say that if you have a problem with the Book of Mormon based on the DNA issue then you should try looking at the Book of Mormon from a different viewpoint. Don't worry about the proof of the historicity of it, but just read it as a spiritual guide. See if it can help bring you closer to Jesus Christ. Just have faith. The historical proofs will all be worked out in good time. Quote
Hemidakota Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 Concur. Our testimony is not based on some DNA research but what is asked to Deity concerning thr turthfullness of this book. Quote
lilered Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 No thanks. I admit I only pray rarely but that is beside the point. I would rather stick to what history has said when talking about the Church and the curse of Cain. Are you sure that is the wisest course of action to take, you can reason about doctrinal matters, but you do not get religion into your life until you feel something in your soul, until there has been a change made in your heart, until you become a “new creature of the Holy Ghost (2 Cor. 5:17). Thanks to God, every member of the Church has the opportunity to do this because, after baptism, every member of the Church obtains “the gift of the Holy Ghost” (D&C 33:15), which means that he then has the right to constant companionship of this member of the Godhead, based upon his personal righteousness and faithfulness.D&C 8: 2 Yea, behold, I will atell you in your mind and in your bheart, by the cHoly Ghost, which shall come upon you and which shall dwell in your heart. 3 Now, behold, this is the spirit of revelation; behold, this is the spirit by which Moses abrought the children of Israel through the Red Sea on dry ground. Hopefully you get the point. Quote
kona0197 Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 Honestly I do not pray because every time I need something I hardly ever get it. For example I pray that we get a place to live. And guess what? We are preparing to be homeless. What's the point of asking if you never get heard? Quote
Guest tomk Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 Kona: Well, the point of prayer is to align our will with the will of the Father. He already knows what we need. What we need is not to tell Him what we need, but find-out His will for us. We also need to remember that, sometimes, when the heavens seem "silent" it is because we need to take a few minutes and thank Him for how richly He has blessed us. If you struggle with saying a prayer like that, then you may need to wonder why that is. Just a few thoughts. We all go through times like this. Hang in there! Tom Quote

Maybe He requires more work on your part? We don't know, but don't give up. Quote
MobyMule Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 Well prayer is not magic. Unless your doing the things to feel the spirit and being obedient and humble to at least some things then why should the lord bless you or anyone who is not humbling themselves. The problem is we veiw things as I, I, I. What do I get out of it? I want this. I am not going to change. There are many things bigger than we are and until we acknowldege that fact and humble ourselves then we are just spitting in the wind. Quote
