I found this in one of my files on Love and Marriage. It's been there for so long I can't remember how I got it. Maybe a magazine or MSN or ? I thought their answers were pretty cute. Children can some times say the most amazing things and said so innocently!

Since it is close to Valentines Day, I thought I would share this story about love. What Love means to a 4-8 year old... Slow down for three minutes to read this. It is so worth it. Touching words from the mouth of babes. A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, 'What does love mean?' The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined. See what you think: 'When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love..' from Rebecca- age 8 --- 'When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth.' from Billy - age 4 --- 'Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other.' from Karl - age 5 --- 'Love is what makes you smile when you're tired.' from Terri - age 4 --- 'Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more. My Mommy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss. from Emily - age 8 --- 'Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen.' from Bobby - age 7 (Wow!) --- 'If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate,' from Nikka - age 6 (we need a few million more Nikka's on this planet) --- 'Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well.' from Tommy - age 6 --- 'My mommy loves me more than anybody You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night..' from Clare - age 6 --- 'Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken.' ---Elaine-age 5 --- 'Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford.' from Chris - age 7 --- 'Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day.' from Mary Ann - age 4 --- 'You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget.' from Jessica - age 8 And the final one The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said, 'Nothing, I just helped him cry' I think we need a few million more adults like this child too.

This is from a recent email that was sent to me... We were in slow-moving traffic the other day and the car in front of us had an Obama bumper sticker on it. It read: "Pray for Obama. Psalm 109:8" My husband's Bible was lying on the dashboard. He got it, opened it up to the scripture, and read it. He started laughing and laughing. Then he read it to me. I couldn't believe what it said. I had a good laugh too. "Let his days be few; and let another take his office."

Look at this lady - Let us never forget
omega0401 replied to trulykiwi's topic in General Discussion
You're right Pam you do need to be living. I just read way too fast to catch that. When I was doing my reading I thought Jane had been nominated 91 times meaning one nomination per year but that was between 1916 and 1931. I guess you can be nominated several times in a year. The more I think about it, Irena didn't really do anything to be considered a peace prize winner. Rescuing people is not what I would think of as promoting peace. But what she did do was courageous. -

There is a lady named Jane Addams that was nominated 91 times before she finally received the nobel peace prize. Hopefully Irena will receive it on her second nomination. There is still that chance. She certainly deserves it for rescuing those children and risking her life at the same time. Thanks for making her story known to us. -
Thank you Pam. I looked all over that web page but I obviously didn't find that tiny little print. I looked along the sides and up on top where I thought it should be but didn't look in the middle. I'll use this to print out our missionary programs with the hymns in it. Thanks again!

Does anyone know of a web page where I can find only the lyrics to our LDS hymns? All I want to do is copy any hymn to a Word document for a meeting program. It would save a lot of time in having to type it manually. Our church website has the lyrics mixed in with the music notes and I can't seem to find a way to show just the lyrics.

A little girl asked her mother whether all fairy tales began with “Once upon a time.” “No,” replied the mother. “Today, most of them begin with ‘If I’m elected.’”

My 50-something friend Nancy and I decided to introduce her mother to the magic of the Internet. Our first move was to access the popular “Ask Jeeves” site, and we told her it could answer any question she had. Nancy’s mother was very skeptical until Nancy said, “It’s true, mom. Think of something to ask it.” As I sat with my fingers poised over the keyboard, Nancy’s mother thought for a minute, then responded, “How is Aunt Helen feeling?”

One day, four high school students decided to cut their morning classes. After lunch, they reported to their teacher that their car had had a flat tire. The teacher simply smiled and said, “Well, you missed the test this morning, so take your seats and get out your notebooks and take the test.” Still smiling, she waited for them to settle down. Then she said, “First question. Which tire was flat?”

Polygamy in the celestial kingdom?
omega0401 replied to annamaureen's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
What about all those righteous women who's husbands did not want any part of the gospel or if they once did, have turned away from it? I'm so thankful that Heavenly Father has given these righteous sisters hope and even an assurance of having an eternal companion some day. That they will never be without a companion in the hereafter. And yes, that might have to be in polygamy situations. I also believe Bytor's right. That we have already understood and accepted the principle of polygamy in our premortal life. We may have understood the principle so much better there than we understand it here. And because of that, in the hereafter, it will be much easier to once again accept it. Will will always have our agency. It doesn't mean polygamy will be forced upon. But we understand it so much better in the hereafter it will be easier to accept. Our agency will permit us to do that. I believe the Lord has provided blessings for us in so many ways that we don't really understand it all yet! -
I agree that it lessens the fear. Much of the book relates to LDS teachings and perhaps when the Lord reveals more about our life after death other things discussed in her book will be the same. It is very much worth reading again.

Thank you for the correction. I hope that she is still active. She wrote a good book. I'll always wonder if her story is true.

If this has been posted in another forum, my apologies. I just discovered a website for urban legends on LDS stories, true or false. One story that you hear often is about Elvis Presley owning a copy of the Book of Mormon. Well this site has a YouTube video of Alan Osmond talking about that very story and it is true. What he talked about was interesting especially how Elvis felt about Lisa Marie and the Book of Mormon. There are other stores both true and false that you might find interesting. The web site is located at here. It might be a good source to remember in case you come across an unusual story that you need to verify.

Mahdi, how do you feel about the reaction of the Iranian people to your recent election and do you feel the election was fair? It seems the Iranians are very sad about the outcome. I hope that they get the freedom and the democracy that they deserve. The latest I have heard is that certain high cleric groups do not believe the election was fair and other cleric leaders higher up have not yet expressed an opinion. You have been on LDS.net for two years. Glad to have you here with us. Muslims and LDS have much in common in our beliefs - importance of families, personal morality, care for the needy, strong believes and worship of God. I hope you have learned much from us as we wish to learn from you. As Joseph Smith taught, we seek for good wherever it may be.

Poll: Majority of Americans Oppose Gay Marriage
omega0401 replied to bytor2112's topic in Current Events
I believe marriage is with opposite sexes and a union is with the same sex so I don't call it synonymous. I wish it were that simple to take the govt out of marriage and leave it to society but unfortunately there is more to it than that. There are legal rights that society needs the government for like equality rights, discrimination problems, hate crimes, etc. Even then laws get broken. -

omega0401 replied to bytor2112's topic in Current Events
You are entitled to your beliefs but you do realize that our LDS faith totally disagrees with that statement? Marriage was ordained of God not by man, the government, or the courts. I prefer to leave to God what was God's in the first place. Adam and Eve did not need a marriage certificate. If same-sex couples want a union and all the legal rights that marriage brings that should be allowed. It's their agency. But let's leave marriage to God. For more information on our beliefs on marriage from our church, you may want to read this link... LDS.org - The Family:A Proclamation to the World -
There is this story of the turkey who learned to fly. He was so excited about his newfound abilities that he called all the other turkeys together and taught them all to fly. They had a wonderful time using their wings and soaring about the heavens, but when the lesson was over, they all walked back home. Shades of Sacrament meetings and Sunday School lessons!

Poll: Majority of Americans Oppose Gay Marriage
omega0401 replied to bytor2112's topic in Current Events
I believe that marriage has always been between a man and a woman and I hope society keeps it that way. If others want to live a homosexual lifestyle then why would anyone else want to interfere with that? We have come to this mortal life to make choices. It's their choice but please give us the choice to leave the definition of marriage the way it is. It seems like a compromise to me. -
I read this book many years ago. I still have it and it was copyrighted in 1992. I enjoyed the book very much. Here's a quote regarding why we are on this earth, I read somewhere on the internet that when she wrote the book she was not yet a member of our church. Maybe someone can confirm or correct that.

Gee, Aesa, can’t we give other religions credit when credit is due? We don’t hold a monopoly on all great things. Other religions can do great things on their own. Please, let me point out the obvious about the video that I think you may have overlooked if you watched the entire video. I think the message of the video is saying it is better to give babies up to adoption not ABORTION. If those persons were aborted instead, we would have missed out on some very talented people who contributed greatly to society irregardless of whether we believe in their religion, philosophy, sociology, race, nationality, music, art or whatever. That is the meaning of the message that I got from the video. The last part of the 13th Article of Faith says “...If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.” We should seek after those things that are good and even great in other faiths. Let’s stand together shoulder to shoulder with other faiths who believe the same we way we do and give them great credit for it. Great faith and talent exists in other faiths. It isn’t all in the LDS faith. May I point out, I am LDS so I understand where you are coming from. But I appreciate it when Catholics and Mormons and other religions can stand together for a common cause and belief whether it be the sanctity of marriage between man and woman only or the sacred life of unborn children or in other beliefs or causes. To me, that is GREAT. We will be much further along in society being UNITED with them when we agree than to argue with them because of their history or their other beliefs.

I thought you might like this video made by out Catholic friends! What a powerful message it is. It really makes you realize how important .... (well I won't give it away. take a look yourselfs) Catholic Vote The Catholics are doing a lot of great work!
